Longjiang Town

Longjiang Town is located in the southwest of Huilai County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. It is one of the four famous towns in eastern Guangdong, with special products such as "Longjiang pig's feet" and "Longjiang mung bean cake". It has developed commerce and trade, and has been known as "360 rural fairs" since ancient times. It is the economic sub center with developed commerce and light industry in Huilai County, and is one of the five major towns in Huilai County. Located in the southwest of Huilai Huicheng, the town government is 14 kilometers away from Huicheng. The town covers an area of 130.6 square kilometers. It is located on the left bank of the middle and lower reaches of Longjiang river. It is high in Northwest and hilly; low in Southeast and belongs to alluvial plain. The largest natural village with single surname in this town is Fenghong Village (Fengzhen Zhucun), with a population of more than 15000, which is the descendant of Zhu Xi, a great literary scholar in the Southern Song Dynasty.

Historical evolution

Longjiang Town is located in the southwest of Huilai County, on the left bank of the middle and lower reaches of Longjiang river. According to the records of Huilai County gazetteer, because the Longjiang River lingers here, flows through the holy spring into the sea, and there are markets, it is called longjiangbu (city), also known as "wanxingzhai" and "Furong city". There are 360 villages meeting this transaction, and later the market gradually prospered, so it was renamed "Longjiang".

In the sixth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1578), Longjiang city (now Longjiang Town, Huilai County) was built with castles, Yamens, city walls and towers.

Longjiang lies between the equatorial low pressure belt and the subtropical high pressure belt, on the south edge of the northeast trade wind belt. It is located in the southeast end of the Eurasian continent, on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean and adjacent to the South China Sea. It is a subtropical monsoon marine climate with an average temperature of 21.50 ℃ and an average annual rainfall of 1750 mm. The dominant direction is northeast wind, followed by southwest wind.
