Yangming town

Yangming Town, subordinate to Heping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the middle of Heping County. It is the seat of the county and one of the central towns. It is the political, economic and cultural center of the county. With an area of 188.38 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 10 neighborhood committees and 22 Village Committees (in 2019) and a population of 127701 (in 2017).

In Yangming Town, Heping Station is set up on Beijing Kowloon Railway, Heping east station is set up on Jiangxi Shenzhen high-speed railway, interchange station is set up on Guangdong Jiangxi expressway, and national highway g238 and g358 run through the whole town.

There is a provincial industrial transfer park in Yangming Town, Futian (Heping) transfer industrial park in Shenzhen. In 2015, the total industrial and agricultural output value of Yangming town was 1.11 billion yuan.

Historical evolution

The town was established in 1518, the 13th year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty, and Xiang was the seat of the county. It was initially called Chengxiang town.

In 1941, it was renamed Yangming town.

In October 1958, the township was abolished and five people's communes, including Dongshan, Silian, Lidong, Lijiang and Jiulian, were established. Yangming town belongs to Dongshan people's commune.

In 1960, Dongshan people's commune was divided into five people's communes: Dongshan (renamed Fucheng in 1961), Daba, Heshui, Chengzhen and Taoyuan (renamed Shangling in the winter of 1960).

In 1961, Dongshan merged with the town and was called Fucheng people's commune.

In 1963, Fucheng people's commune was divided into Fucheng people's Commune and Yangming town.

In 1968, it was renamed Dongfeng town.

In 1980, it was renamed Yangming town.

In 2015, the total industrial and agricultural output value of Yangming town was 1.11 billion yuan, an increase of 119% over the previous year, of which the total industrial output value was 326 million yuan, an increase of 5.1%. The annual per capita net income of farmers was 6064 yuan, an increase of 10%; the "two taxes" was 73.18 million yuan, an increase of 6.3%.
