Gaoguan town is located in Lianping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. It is connected with Guan Town, Youxi town and Zhongxin town in the county and Qingzhou town in Heping County. Lingjiu Temple

According to the Yongzheng eighth year edition of Lianping Prefecture annals, the earliest existing local chronicle in Lianping county archives, the present Gaoguan town belonged to the area under the jurisdiction of Zhongxin Department of Huizhou Prefecture before the establishment of Lianping Prefecture in Ming Dynasty, with the majority of Hakkas migrated from Han nationality. The earliest religion introduced into Lianping county according to the local chronicles is Chinese Zen Buddhism. The Buddhism recorded in the local chronicles was mainly introduced into Lianping county from Caoxi (now Nanhua temple in Shaoguan) and Jiangxi Province. The earliest Daochang was established in the Yifeng period of the Tang Dynasty. There are more than 40 temples and Taoist temples recorded in the local chronicles. There are three in Gaoguan Town, which are textual research and folk research. Historically, the Buddhist temples in the six towns of Lianping prefecture were built from lingjiu temple in Lingshan of Gaoguan Town, forming three Buddhist temples. The local people commonly call the temples as nunneries. Therefore, Lingshan nunnery is recorded in the local chronicles There are only the remains of the wall base of the small Buddhist hall, Longxun nunnery (now located in the canteen of Zhongxin middle school, there is no remains, and it has been occupied by the school for another building), shiziyan Temple (now located in shiziyan of Heping County, some buildings have been restored by local believers, and there are no regular monks). The ancient buildings of lingjiu temple were completely destroyed during the cultural revolution. The temple was demolished and built into Shitang primary school in Gaoguan town. The only precious cultural relics of the temple is a travel notes of a local Zeng's Confucian manuscripts in the late Qing Dynasty. It is clearly recorded in the travel notes that the Lingshan mountain at the junction of Gaoguan town and Youxi town was named after a temple in ancient history. The temple has a long history, because of the destruction of cultural relics, there is no detailed research. Since 2004, with the attention of the party committees, governments and religious departments at the provincial, municipal and county levels, at the request of local believers, shangyanxiashi, a 34 generation eminent monk under the seat of master Fuyu of Cao Dongzong, has been invited to the lingjiu Temple of Xiling mountain to carry forward the Buddhist Dharma and restore the Taoist temple. With unremitting efforts and strong support from relevant government departments, 264.22 mu of forest land has been restored to the religious site of coffin temple.
