Lantang town

Lantang Town, belonging to Zijin County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest of Zijin County, 47 km away from Zijin County and 80 km away from Huizhou. Provincial Highway S120 and s243 run through the town, with a total area of 301.90 square kilometers. At the end of 2018, the population of the registered residence in blue town was 77948. As of June 2020, Lantang town has one community and 26 administrative villages.

Lantang town is the central town of Guangdong Province and the national key town, and is the largest spring sweet orange planting base in Zijin County.

In 2014, the Gross Regional Product of Lantang town was 3.176 billion yuan, an increase of 18.3% over 2013, including 2.599 billion yuan of industrial output value, 22% over 2013, 440 million yuan of agricultural output value, 6% over 2013, 137 million yuan of tertiary industry output value, 8.2% over 2013, including 4.63 million yuan of national tax, 7.79 million yuan of local tax, 200000 yuan of deed tax, and 7725 yuan of rural per capita net income 10.1%。

Historical evolution

In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the Shangshi and Xiashi societies.

In Qing Dynasty, it belonged to fenghuanggangyue, shangshishe, longtouyue and xiashishe.

Since 1929, it belongs to the first district.

In 1945, it belonged to Longfeng town.

At the beginning of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the second and sixth districts.

In December 1957, it belonged to Lantang and Shicheng townships respectively.

The origin of place names

The former name of Lantang is Lantang. It is said that there is a orchid tree beside the pond in the East market. Later generations read and wrote the word "Lan" as the word "Lan", which has been used up to now.

The Hakka dialect is popular in Lantang Town, which belongs to Meixian Hakka dialect system and southwest Luqiang in Zijin Hakka dialect.

The former residence of Deng zuanxian, located in Buxin village, Lantang Town, Zijin County, Heyuan City, was built in the 45th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1780), more than 200 years ago. It includes many cultural landscapes, such as the western region style Museum, the Hakka folk custom museum, the Statue Square of Deng zuanxian and the breeze corridor. Deng Zan was the first person in Guangdong Province to aid Xinjiang for a hundred years. He has been stationed in Xinjiang for 18 years. He has successively served as the governor of Wusu, Yecheng, Shufu, Moyu and Bachu counties. He has a lofty mind, loves the country, the people and Xinjiang, and is honest and diligent. For many years, he has benefited the local Uighur people in southern Xinjiang. He compiled two county annals successively, which was the first of his kind in Xinjiang. Deng zanxian died in the riot and died for the frontier guard.

In November 2011, Deng zuanxian's former residence was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at Zijin County level. In February 2013, Deng zuanxian's former residence was listed as the key cultural relics protection unit of Heyuan City. In May 2013, the patriotism education base of Deng zuanxian in Heyuan City and the anti-corruption history education base of Deng zuanxian in Heyuan City were established. In December 2015, Deng zuanxian's former residence was listed as the eighth batch of cultural relics protection units in Guangdong Province.

Famous people

Deng zuanxian (1868-1933), a native of Buxin village, Lantang, Zijin County, was a patriotic frontier official, frontier historian and outstanding frontier poet. He was the first official appointed by the central government who died of violence and terrorism in Xinjiang in modern history. Deng zuanxian, a 13-year-old scholar, was one of the last winners in the late Qing Dynasty. In the early years of the Republic of China, he went to Beijing for the county talent examination, and was appointed as the county magistrate of Yecheng, Dihua, Wusu, Moyu, etc. in Xinjiang, and later served in the provincial office and Yili River District. It has been handed down from generation to generation as follows: Poetry and grass of Lu, continued chanting of Lu and three parts of poetry and grass of Lu.

In 1933, there was a riot in Xinjiang, and Bachu County suffered many wars. Together with his eldest son, Deng Zhuo, his daughter-in-law and grandson, he died in Bachu.
