Tangnan town is named for its location in the south of tangkeng. In 1979, Tangnan town became Tangnan commune. In 1983, it was changed into Tangnan district. In October 1986, it was changed to Tangnan town. The language of Tangnan town is mainly Chaoshan dialect, and quite a few people can speak Hakka and Chaozhou dialects. The folk activities in Tangnan town include Chaozhou Opera, Chaoshan gongs and drums, going out of the garden, Golden Lion Dance and fire dance.

Famous people

Luo Wanjie (1613-1680), named Zhenqing, Yongan, Longshan woodcutter in the late Ming Dynasty, was born in lantiandu (now Longyan Yongfeng Village, Tangnan Town, Fengshun County) of Jieyang in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Luo Wanjie has been smart since he was a child, and he is famous for his lack of responsibility. He was a 15-year-old middle-aged scholar. He was recommended by Gu Chao, a native of Haiyang, and called "Si Jun" by Guo Zhiqi and Huang Qiyu, a native of Jieyang. He was an 18-year-old middle-aged scholar and a 22-year-old middle-aged Jinshi of Jiaxu. The official paid homage to wailang, a member of the Ministry of officials. In the third year of Yongli (1649) of Ming Dynasty, Yongli Emperor (King GUI) was appointed as the censor of Youjin capital. After the collapse of the Ming Dynasty, he lived in seclusion and did not become an official. He is the author of Zhan Liu Tang Ji.
