Guangde town

Guangde Town, belonging to Dapu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the south of Dapu county. It is adjacent to Gaopi town plain in the north, Gaopi town in the west, Taoyuan town in the southwest and Raoping County in Chaozhou City in the southeast, with a total area of 131.07 square kilometers. In late 2018, Guangde town had 35601 registered residence.

As of June 2020, Guangde town has jurisdiction over 1 community and 10 administrative villages.

In 1928, there were 8 districts and 52 townships in the county. Guangde Township and Fucheng Township were subordinate to Gaopi district.

In January 1961, Guangde established the people's commune.

In 1987, the village was replaced by Guangde town. In the south of Guangde Town, zhaigongdong, Hengping mountain, at an altitude of 1070 meters, is the highest peak of the town. The water source is from Danzhu to Zhangxi, and flows into Hanjiang River through Gaopi through leifengji villages.

Historical evolution

In 1928, eight districts and 52 townships were set up in Dapu County, Chaozhou Prefecture. Guangde Township and Fucheng Township were subordinate to Gaopi district.

In October 1957, two towns and 24 townships were set up in the county. Guangde Township and Fucheng Township were merged into Guangde township.

In October 1958, the people's commune system was implemented throughout the country, and Guangde township was incorporated into Gaopi people's commune.

In January 1961, Guangde established the people's commune.

In 1983, the commune was withdrawn and the district office was established.

There are porcelain clay resources in Guangde town. Among the five porcelain clay mines in Dapu County, the second one extends from Guangde through the plain to huliao, with a total length of 23 km and a width of 6 km. It is a class I porcelain clay mine. There are three reservoirs in the town, including Danzhu reservoir, Jingwen reservoir and Fuling reservoir. Among them, Danzhu reservoir in Shangzhang has a capacity of 3.55 million cubic meters. There are two forest farms in Shangzhang and Fuling, which can develop and utilize 30000 mu of forest land.

History and culture

Intangible cultural heritage

Guangde town is one of the main ceramic producing areas in Dapu county. The development of ceramic industry began in Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 700 years. There are abundant porcelain clay resources in the territory, which provide unique natural conditions for the development of ceramic industry.

There are more than 100 ceramic enterprises in the town, mainly producing daily porcelain, arts and crafts porcelain, blue and white porcelain and antique porcelain, with more than 5000 kinds. The products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions such as Europe, the United States and Japan.

According to the records of cultural relics of Dapu County, identified by Yang Shaoxiang, an expert of ceramic Archaeology in Guangdong Province, it is an ancient kiln site in the early Ming Dynasty. There are 26 ancient kiln sites in the county, most of them in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are six ancient kilns in the Ming Dynasty, including Qingwan kiln in Gaopi and Guangde Xiayao, belonging to the Baiyao village school in Bijiashan, Chaozhou. Sanheyuli, huliaobankeng, Wanyao and other ancient kiln sites belong to Longquan school in Zhejiang Province. Han music in Guangdong is the ancient music of Central Plains brought by Hakka ancestors when they moved to the South more than 1000 years ago.
