Pingling Street
Pingling street, subordinate to Longmen County, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeast of Longmen County. It is designated as one of 268 central towns (streets) in Guangdong Province. On October 12, 2017, the Department of civil affairs of Guangdong Province officially approved the cancellation of Pingling town in Longmen County and the establishment of Pingling sub district office. Previously, it has won the titles of national ecological town, provincial education strong town, provincial small-scale farmland water conservancy demonstration town, provincial building materials professional town, etc.
Pingling is adjacent to Longmen County in the west, BOLUO County in the East and Heyuan County in the north. It is the only way to Huizhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Shantou and Meizhou. Provincial highway S244, Wushen expressway, Huilong Expressway and Shaohui expressway will be built soon. It is 17 km and 15 km away from Gongzhuang and Luxi entrances and exits of Guanghe Expressway respectively. It is 68 kilometers away from Huizhou, 120 kilometers away from Guangzhou, 130 kilometers away from Shenzhen, and 1.5 hours' drive away from ports and airports in the Pearl River Delta. Known as the "East Gate" of Longmen, Pingling can integrate into the one hour economic life circle of the Pearl River Delta due to its superior location. With a total area of 143 square kilometers and a total population of 41000, it has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages and one neighborhood committee.
Evolution of organizational system
It is 13 kilometers southeast of Longcheng Town, connecting BOLUO and Heyuan counties in the East, covering an area of 135 square kilometers. Because the place is hilly and the market town is low, it is named Pingling. In 1987, the population was 30632. Before 1951, it was under the jurisdiction of Heyuan county. In 1952, Huangsha, Shanxia, wengkeng, Chenguang Township and pinglingwei in Heyuan county were divided into the Fifth District of Longmen County, which was called Pingling Township in 1957, Pingling commune in 1958, Pingling District in November 1983 and Pingling town on December 12, 1986. It has jurisdiction over 1 neighborhood committee, 13 villagers' committees and 213 natural villages. It is a hilly area, surrounded by high schools and low lands, with an average annual temperature of 20.8 ℃ and an average annual rainfall of 1723.4 mm. It is one of the main soybean producing areas in the county. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, Longping canal and other water conservancy projects have been built, limestone resources have been available, cement and other building materials industries have been developed, and tungsten, tin, barite and coal mines have been initially developed. Zengcheng Longmen highway and Yangcun Pingling highway are connected here.
Pinglingwei covers an area of 1 square kilometer. During the Hongwu years of Ming Dynasty, it had become a Polder, and the settlements extended along the North Bank of Pingling to both sides of the highway, and distributed in blocks. It is a trade fair for the town's agriculture, forestry and by-products. During the polder period, people from BOLUO and Heyuan counties come to the fair. During the polder period, more than 3000 people take advantage of the polder.
From October 1949 to 1951, it was divided into four districts, 18 townships and one town.
District 1: Fucheng Town, Chengnan Township, Chengbei Township, Chengdong Township and Tianwei township.
District 2: Longhua Township, Maogang Township, Luxi Township, Shajing township.

From 1957 to September 1958, 12 townships and 1 town were set up: Fucheng Town, Fucheng Town, Lantian Township, Longhua Township, Shajing Township, Yonghan Township, Mazha Township, Nankun Township, zuotan Township, Dipai Township, Pingling Township, Maogang Township and Luxi township.
From October 1958 to October 1961, the whole county was divided into six communes, one was Longcheng commune, Mazha commune, Yonghan commune, Pingling commune, Longhua commune, zuotan commune and Nankun forest farm.
From the end of 1961 to March 1963, the county was divided into 20 communes and one Forest Farm: Xiancheng Town, Huawei, Wangping, Tianwei, Lantian, zuotan, Tiegang, Dipai, Huxin, Pingling, Longjiang, Luxi, Longhua, Xiangxi, Yonghan, Liaotian, Zhendong, oilfield, Mazha, Aoxi commune and Nankun forest farm.
In April 1963, the county was reorganized into 12 communes, including one town and three farms: Mazha, Yonghan, Xiangxi, Longhua, Longjiang, Luxi, Pingling, Longcheng, Tiegang, Lantian, zuotan, Dipai commune, Xiancheng Town, Nankunshan forest farm, mixi forest farm and Tiantangshan forest farm.
In November 1983, the commune was abolished and the district system was changed. Pingling is mainly composed of Hakka people. Hakka food culture is unique and famous for its fresh and spicy flavor. Local delicacies such as "whole beef feast", "double steamed fish" and "hand-made meatballs" attract customers from all over the world. Pingling is known as the "hometown of culture" of Longmen County for its simple folk customs, advocating culture and education, long history and profound culture. Founded in 1730, Longyan temple has a history of more than 280 years. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Longmen County and attracts a large number of Buddhist believers and tourists every year. The baimangkeng revolutionary site in Shanxia village has good ecological resources and rich revolutionary historical sites. At present, the rest site of the fourth red division, the site of baimangkeng people's resistance against Japanese army and the site of baimangkeng people's armed forces were once the headquarters of the third Dongjiang detachment of the Guangdong Jiangxi Hunan border column. Pingling planning combines the red revolutionary history of baimangkeng with the surrounding excellent ecological resources to build a memorial park for workers and peasants of the Red Army and create a fine red tourism route.

hakka dialect
Mazha, Yonghan, Shajing, Longhua, zuotan, Tiegang, Dipai, Lantian, oilfield, Tiantangshan, Wangping and other townships, towns and farms are popular with Hakka as well as Longmen dialect; most or part of the people in mixi forest farm in the north, Nankunshan town in the western border, and Pingling and Longjiang towns in the southeast use Hakka dialect, while a few people in other places speak Hakka Home talk. The number of users is about 80000, which is the second largest dialect in Longmen.
Hakka dialects distributed in different places in Longmen are relatively consistent, with slight differences in pronunciation of a few words, but they are quite different from Meixian dialect and Xingning dialect. For example, in the Hakka dialect of Mazha Town, there are semi vowel initials J (such as "Ruo", "Yue" and "run"), middle fricative initials C (such as "Xiu", "Qu", "Xu" and "Xuan"), nasal initials cuhe and complement each other, and vowel cuyi (such as "Wei", "Wei", "Wei", "Wei" and "Wei")
