Yunao town

Yunao town is located in the southeast of Nan'ao Island, Nan'ao County, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is the main producing area of fresh seafood in Nan'ao. It is 8.3 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 20.46 square kilometers (2017) and has a population of 18263 (2017).

In November 2020, it was rated as the sixth national civilized village.

Historical evolution

The Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Zhao'an County, Fujian Province, which was transferred to Guangdong Province in 1914.

In 1961, yunao commune was established.

The town was built in 1986.

It has jurisdiction over 10 village committees, including aoqian, Nantai, Zhongzhu, Xipan, laoyuan, Dongao, Yunxing, jiuxi'ao, xiashishan and houlan.
