Tanbu town

Tanbu Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Huadu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest of Huadu District, at the junction of Guangzhou and Foshan. It is connected with Sanshui District of Foshan in the west, Nanhai District of Foshan in the south, Jianggao town of Baiyun District in the East, and Chini town of Huadu District in the northwest. Throughout the town are Huadu Avenue, chantan highway (Foshan Chancheng to Huadu Tanbu), Bajiang River and Guangzhou West 2nd Ring Expressway. There are also provincial highway 118 and 267, and Tanbu bridge. Shenhai expressway is adjacent to Guangqing Expressway and North 2nd Ring Road, with prominent geographical and traffic advantages.

Tanbu town is an industrial satellite town in the Pearl River Delta, an economic development zone, an important base of three high agriculture, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, known as the "Pearl of Bajiang". Zhujiang Cement Plant, Huadu port, Yuebao cement plant and Huadu Auto City are located in Tanbu town. Tanbu town is a key town in China, one of the provincial central towns in Guangdong Province and one of the five key towns in Guangzhou. In October 2019, Tanbu town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Tanbu town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Historical evolution

It is said that during the Southern Song Dynasty, the northern residents moved to the south to make a living by burning charcoal. They piled up charcoal by the river and transported it abroad. They gradually became a head (commonly known as Butou), so it was called Tanbu.

In the Ming Dynasty, tanbuwei was formed, and the town was named after it.

Tanbu commune was established in 1958, changed to district in 1984 and established as a town in 1986.
