Horticultural planting
In late autumn, Guo Yumeng, a technology demonstrator and villager in group 8 of Changle Village, Wangjiachang Town, Lixian County, has a green orchard of more than 200 mu, with golden oranges hanging all over the branches, conveying the joy of fruit farmers' bumper harvest.
It used to be a collective village run horticulture farm in Changle Village. Due to poor management and low economic benefits, no one paid attention to it. At the beginning of 1997, inspired by the fruit tree training class, Guo Yumeng decided to contract this nearly deserted horticultural farm and do his own business. This idea was recognized and supported by the two committees of Zhicun, and the village collective signed a contract with Guo Yumeng.
After discussing with his family, Guo Yumeng immediately built a farm house on the mountain, renovated the ponds, started planting oranges and thorn grapes, and Interplanted watermelon, cotton and other short-term crops in the citrus forest. With the base and facilities, Guo lives in the mountains. "If you want to run a horticultural farm well, you can't do it without certain professional knowledge. Only by mastering technology and managing the park with science and technology can the dream come true. " Guo Yumeng told reporters that in recent years, he has participated in more than 10 farmer education and training courses held by cities, counties and towns, and basically mastered the techniques of high-yield cultivation of high-quality citrus, pest control, reasonable pruning and scientific fertilization.
How to apply the knowledge learned to production practice? Guo Yumeng said that he managed the horticultural farm in strict accordance with the methods taught by the teachers in the farmers' education and training class. Taking citrus planting as an example, he mainly achieved four points: first, reasonable fertilization, increased application of organic fertilizers such as chicken manure and cake manure, combined application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and paid attention to the application of fruit picking fertilizer, sprouting fertilizer, fruit stabilizing fertilizer and fruit strengthening fertilizer four times. Second, timely watering and drought resistance, grasp the fruit setting period, strong fruit period and after picking three periods. The third is to grasp the key, do a good job in pest control, do a good job in garden cleaning, control flower maggots. In the middle of May, June and July, we should do a good job in the control of scale insects. At the same time, we should control red spider in time, prevent ulcer disease and scab disease as soon as possible, and focus on the prevention of fruit fly. Fourth, prune reasonably, improve ventilation and light transmission conditions, and increase fruit setting rate.
In the eyes of the villagers, Guo Yumeng is a man with brains and good management. "I don't have a knack for managing a horticultural farm. I just want benefits from technology." Looking at this green and efficient fruit base, Guo Yumeng said on the spot. After several years of hard work, his horticultural area has expanded from more than 100 mu to more than 200 mu, benefiting more than half of the total area. His annual output of citrus is more than 100 tons and watermelon is more than 50 tons, with an output value of more than 200000 yuan. Because of its good quality, his citrus is favored by merchants in Xinjiang and Northeast China.
