Yuetian town

Yuetian town is located in the border of Hunan and Hubei, the east of Yueyang County, the upstream of Tieshan reservoir and the West extension of Mufu mountain. It is adjacent to Banjiang township of Pingjiang County in the East, Gongtian town of Yueyang County in the west, Zhangguying town of Yueyang County in the South and Magang town of Tongcheng County in Hubei Province in the north. It is 85 kilometers away from Pingjiang Tianyue, 60 kilometers away from rongjiawan, 45 kilometers away from Tongcheng, Hubei Province. Provincial highway S306 runs through the whole area. The town governs 55 administrative villages and a neighborhood committee, with a permanent population of 46021 (2017). The town covers an area of 175.5 square kilometers, 184000 mu of mountain forest, and the forest coverage rate is 64.8%. There are 15 type-1 and type-2 reservoirs in the town.

brief introduction

Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Yuetian town belonged to Sanhe Township and Yongqing township of Baling County, and merged into Sanqing township at the end of the Republic of China. In the early days of liberation, it was subordinate to 13 districts of Yueyang County; Yuetian people's commune was established in 1958 and changed to Yuetian District in 1961, with Yuetian, Huamiao, Huangan, Daotian and Wantou communes under it; in 1968, it was changed to Yuetian, Huamiao and Huangan communes. In 1984, the township was reformed by the society, and in 1995, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged to build Yuetian town. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yuetian was one of the "three streets", "six cities" and "nine Hill fields" in the county.

There are famous Acacia mountain and Huangmao mountain in the territory. Xiangsi mountain is the highest peak in the county. The main peak is 957.2 meters above sea level, which is the benefit of climbing tourism. Huangmao mountain is located in the eastern part of the town. It is said that emperor Liu Bang of the Han Dynasty visited Zhang Liang, who retired after his success. When he passed by, the wind blew the Huangmao mountain down and turned it into a stone hat. At the foot of the mountain, there is a thousand year old pine with a crown of 30 square meters. In 1993, a martyr pavilion was built, which often attracts tourists to visit the scenic spot. the town people's government is stationed in Yuetian. The town is located in the upstream of Tieshan reservoir. Before liberation, there were only one or two small shops here. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it became the political, economic and cultural center of the town. The town has grown from small to large, with infrastructure from scratch. By the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, three streets had been built, basically forming a town framework. Especially after 1983, the construction of Tieshan reservoir and the construction of towns by immigrants brought new opportunities to the construction of towns and developed rapidly.
