Taohong town

Taohong Town, historically known as taohuaping Township, belongs to longhui County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. It is located in the south of the county, on both sides of Nanshui river. It is adjacent to yushanpu town and Beishan town in the East, Shanjie Hui Township in the south, nanyuemiao Township in the west, Shimen Township and Tantou town in the north. It is not only the government residence of longhui County, but also the political, economic, cultural, transportation and trade center of longhui County.

Taohong town is located in the "Golden Triangle" area of Xiangxi main road, baoqingximen and shaowudong. The traffic in the town is convenient, with national highway 320, provincial highway S312, S219 and shangrui Expressway passing through the town; the town has 108 kilometers of village level highway, forming a traffic network of village roads and groups of tractor roads.

On November 17, 2015, the 15th executive meeting of longhui County People's government decided to merge yushanpu town and Shimen Township into Taohong Town, with 24 towns after adjustment.

Yushanpu town has an area of 86.06 square kilometers, which governs 46 villages, 1 neighborhood committee and 42200 people. It is planned to abolish yushanpu town and merge it into Taohong town. Shimen Township, with an area of 80.18 square kilometers, governs 42 villages and 41000 people. It is planned to abolish Shimen Township and merge it into Taohong town. Taohong town has an area of 97.45 square kilometers, 35 villages, 15 districts, 119200 people and 445 villager groups, with a total population of nearly 200000 (including 48000 rural population and 50000 floating population), a total area of 97.37 square kilometers and an urban area of 18 square kilometers. After yushanpu town and Shimen township are merged into Taohong Town, the town government will be located in xinlongzheng street, Ziyang (the former seat of Taohong town government). After the merger, Taohong town covers an area of 259.5 square kilometers (2017), with a total population of 294208 (2017), 123 villages and 16 communities (neighborhood committees)

Evolution of organizational system

Taohong town is a historical ancient city. As early as the Jin Dynasty (the first year of emperor Taikang, ad 280), it was established as the county governor of Duliang.

In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Baoqing Prefecture governed Shaoyang, Xinhua and Wugang counties, and Chenzhou Prefecture governed Xupu County.

In 1697 A.D., Shaoyang added 140 capitals to Hongren Township, and taohuaping was designated as one of the six capitals of Hongren.

Qing Daoguang 17 years (AD 1837) moved to taohuaping.

During the period of the Republic of China (1912-1946), it belonged to Tongqian. When the town was set up in 1942, it was named Taohong town with the words "Tao" and "Hong".

In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947 AD), it analyzed eight townships and one town of longhui in Shaoyang, and set up longhui County.

In October 1949, longhui was liberated and the people's Government of longhui County was established. Taohong town was changed to taohuaping Township, and the county was moved from liuduzhai to taohuaping.

From 1949 to 1959, it was a district of longhui County, where taohuaping was located.

In 1960, taohuaping commune was established.

In 1992, taohuaping township was renamed Taohong town.

On December 6, 2018, longhui County held the 24th executive meeting of the people's Government of the county, which deliberated and passed in principle the work plan for canceling the establishment of sub district offices in Taohong town.

On January 12, 2019, longhui County held the inaugural meeting and unveiling ceremony of Huamen and taohuaping sub district offices, officially abolished Taohong town and established taohuaping sub district and Huamen sub district. From then on, Taohong town became history.

As of 2014, Taohong town has 35 villages, 15 communities and 445 villager groups, with a total population of nearly 200000 (including 48000 rural population and 50000 floating population), a total area of 97.37 square kilometers and an urban area of 18 square kilometers.

As of 2017, the town (township) has an administrative area of 259.5 square kilometers and a permanent population of 294208.
