Jiaoshan town is a town set up in shigu District, Hengyang City, Hunan Province by withdrawing villages and setting up towns. On October 26, 2017, the seventh meeting of the fourth Standing Committee of the people's Congress of shigu District of Hengyang City passed a resolution and agreed to the report of the people's Government of the district on the removal of Jiaoshan Township into a town.

Jiaoshan town is located in the west of shigu District, adjacent to Zhengxiang district and Hengyang County. It is a junction of urban and rural areas. It is about 10 minutes' drive away from the urban area. It has superior geographical location and convenient transportation. The land in the township is fertile and rich in products. It mainly grows grain crops, as well as wheat, rape, Xianglian, cotton and other economic crops. After the reform in 2016, it has jurisdiction over six administrative villages with a total population of 23000.

As of October 2016, Jiaoshan has achieved a total agricultural output value of 198 million yuan, a fiscal revenue of 18.32 million yuan and a per capita net income of 16056 yuan.

More than 10 provincial and municipal key projects have settled in Jiaoshan, with land acquisition of more than 5300 Mu and house demolition area of more than 500000 square meters. It has successfully introduced three commercial projects, including Chongsheng Jingzhu international, huayoucheng, film and Television Art Center, with an estimated total investment of 20 billion yuan. Seven urban road network projects, including Changfeng Avenue, Inner Ring West Road, Wangcheng Road, Fenghuang Road, Xixiang Road, Huai Shao Heng railway and Tourism Ring Road, run through Jiaoshan. In particular, Changfeng Avenue and inner ring west road will be opened to traffic in a short time, which will further establish the location advantage of Jiaoshan "integrating into the central city".

Formal establishment of town

According to Hengyang daily on December 5, 2018, on the morning of December 4, 2018, with the approval of Hunan provincial government, the ceremony of withdrawing Jiaoshan Township in shigu District to establish a town was held in the town government. Since then, Jiaoshan has stood at a new historical starting point.

After the township was established, Jiaoshan town has jurisdiction over six villages and one community, with a total area of 34.38 square kilometers and a total population of 27300. At the same time, the administrative division of shigu District will be adjusted to one town and seven streets, and the focus of construction will be further inclined to the secondary and tertiary industries, so as to fully promote the integration of urban and rural development, better develop "the most dynamic business and cultural center in southern Hunan", and faster build "a new tourism and leisure highland in the suburbs of Hengyang City".

In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization construction, Jiaoshan's economic and social development has stepped into the "fast lane", with the successful introduction of Chongsheng International Center, Huayao city and other commercial projects, the layout of xiangzhangyuan, Shanshui lotus, Wangfu lake, Sanxing vegetable base and other characteristic leisure agriculture, and 100% coverage of rural roads, village roads and group roads. Jiaoshan has been awarded "the best rural eco-tourism destination in Hengyang City", Jiaoshan village, Sanxing village and Limin Village have been awarded "beautiful rural demonstration village in Hunan Province", and Sanxing village has been awarded "national civilized village" in 2017.
