Yerengu town

Yerengu town is located in the south of Fangxian County, adjacent to Wutaishan forest farm in Fangxian County of Baokang County in the East, Shennongjia in the south, Hongta town and Menggu town in the northwest.

The town government is located 21 kilometers away from the county seat, which is the South Gate of Fangxian County. With a total area of 384 square kilometers, the town governs 20 villages, 71 villager groups, 5347 households and 14291 people.

Basic information

Yerengu and yerendong, the famous scenic spots in Northwest Hubei Province, are located in Yerengu town. They are the necessary places for "two mountains and one river" golden tourism. In 1974, Yin Hongfa, a villager of Qiaoshang village, fought with savages on the mountain, becoming the first person in the world to fight with savages, which opened the prelude to the exploration of Chinese savages.

Since 2002, the provincial government has approved the establishment of Yerengu Geopark, Yerengu natural ecological reserve, and Yerengu natural ecological protection administration. Fangxian Yerengu and yerendong have become national AAAA scenic spots. Yeren cave has been registered by the State Administration for Industry and commerce. Setting up Yerengu town to synchronize scenic spots with place names will create a mysterious post station on the golden tourism line of "two mountains and one river".

Evolution of organizational system

Before 1984, Yerengu town was a people's commune.

In 1984, it was divided into districts and townships (one district and seven townships).

In 1987, it was divided into Anyang Township and Qiaoshang township.

In May 2001, the former Anyang township was abolished and merged into Qiaoshang township.

On January 18, 2010, it was renamed as Yerengu town with the approval of the provincial government.

In 2002, the people's Government of Hubei Province designated 100 square kilometers of Qiaoshang and other areas as shennongxia scenic spot.

Yerengu Nature Reserve was established in 2007.

In 2010, a provincial Geopark was set up in yerendong, and duchuan village, Yerengu Town, was rated as a famous tourism village in the province.

In 2018, the beautiful and livable demonstration village in duchuan village of Yerengu town is being built in an orderly way.

Yerengu town is located in the adjacent area of Xingshan, Shennongjia and Baokang mining areas. It is rich in phosphate, iron ore, lead-zinc and other mineral resources with large theoretical reserves. Five phosphate enterprises have settled down in Yerengu town. It is an ideal place for the development of mineral industry.

Hydropower and water resources

The town has a unique geological and geomorphic features and a large altitude drop. 14 small hydropower stations have been developed with a total installed capacity of 8000 kW. In 2011, Sanliping reservoir officially impounded, forming 10000 mu of water surface.

Wind resources

Maohetang in neidongping village is 1700 meters above sea level. It is an ideal place for the development of environmental protection new energy and the construction of wind power station.

Wild dried fruit resources

The original ecological area of Castanea mollissima is up to 100000 mu. From west to east along Donghao to Qili, a 40 km green corridor of Castanea mollissima natural ecological forest has been built, and 3000 mu of walnut has been developed.

The town is a natural treasure house of wild Chinese herbal medicine. Taxus, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, Eucommia ulmoides, Gastrodia elata, raspberry and other industries have been formed.
