It is said that in front of Deng's village, there is a small lane into the river, which is a water transportation crossing. Boats gather together to form a rural town, called dengjiakou town. In 1911, it belonged to the fourteenth District of Hanyang county. In 1949, it belonged to the synthetic township of Hanyang county. In 1955, it was the residence of Dengnan District Office in Hanyang county. Dengnan district was named after dengjiakou town and Nanzhuang Village, and it has jurisdiction over Dengnan, shuihong, Dazui, doubu and other townships. In 1958, Dengnan township was changed into Dengnan commune. In 1975, Dengnan district was changed into Dengnan commune, and the former Dengnan township (commune) was changed into management area. In the winter of 1977 (1979), Dengnan commune was transferred to Hannan Farm Management Bureau (four management areas of shuihong, Dengnan, Dazui and doubu were abolished and four communes were restored). In 1980, the Hannan agricultural administration bureau took the Ant River (Tantou section) as the boundary and assigned the Tantou brigade on the north bank to Wujin farm for management. In 1984, two communes of shuihong and Dengnan were abolished and two townships of shuihong and Dengnan were established. In 1986, Dengnan township was abolished and dengjiakou town was established. In 1996, dengjiakou Town, with an area of 24.7 square kilometers and a population of 9000, governed seven administrative villages including Nanzhuang, Jiefang, Jianxin, dengxi, Xianan, Guojia and Tangjiang, and one neighborhood committee in Zhenxing street; shuihong Township, with an area of 55.4 square kilometers and a population of 11000, governed eight administrative villages including Xingou, shuiyi, shuier, shuisan, shojian, laozihu, yaotou and Jincheng. In June 2001, shuihong township was abolished and its jurisdiction was merged into dengjiakou town. In 2004, Dengnan town has a population of 16700, covering an area of 80.5 square kilometers.
