Historical evolution

Dingcun used to belong to Luyi County, Laozi's hometown. Until May 1951, some districts of Luyi (most towns), Huaiyang and Shenqiu counties set up Dancheng Office (county level) in Henan Province. In August 1952, the Government Affairs Council officially approved the establishment of Dancheng County, and Ding village was assigned to Dancheng county. Yuejin commune was established in 1958, renamed Dingcun commune in 1965, and changed to township in 1983. In 1997, with an area of 72.6 square kilometers and a population of 56000, it has jurisdiction over 25 administrative villages, including Wawu, conglou, Taodian, Liuying, lihuanglou, gaoxiaomiao, Yangmiao, Zhaolou, Xuzhuang, wanggonglou, Zhulou, Daliu, Dawangzhuang, Fulou, Maozhuang, Maozhai, Hongshandian, daguozhuang, cuitang, zhangbaizhuang, Luzhai, Xiezhuang, wangdazhuang, Xuezhuang and Dingcun.

In 2007, all 25 administrative villages in the township were connected with asphalt roads, and the village to village project was implemented.
