Baitan town is a town under the jurisdiction of Fugou County in Henan Province. It is located at the junction of three cities (Zhoukou, Xuchang, Kaifeng) and four counties (Fugou, Tongxu, Yanling, Weishi). Historical evolution

Baitan village was built in the Ming Dynasty. At the beginning, only a few families of refugees settled in Beigang, which is called liuhangang. In order to prevent banditry, a stockade was built on the hillock. It was said that snakes and cats were fighting here, so it was renamed longhuge stockade. In 1938, baitanji in Weishi County was flooded by yellow water, so the bazaar moved to longhuge village in the south. Because baitanji was famous for a long time, it was used to be called xinbaitan, and later evolved into its present name. After liberation, six villages in Weishi County, including xiaogangyang, dongbaizhuang, xibaizhuang, Yinguo, Wugang and Maogang, were under the jurisdiction of Baitan town in Fugou. Xingjia, Nanyang, Xiaowangzhuang and Gaoji in Yanling County are under the jurisdiction of Baitan town. Laobaitan, Zhangzhuang, bianzhuang and Chenzhuang were assigned to Weishi County.
