Changtaiguan township is located in the north central part of Pingqiao District, next to Huaihe River in the south, only 20 kilometers away from Xinyang City. National Highway 107 and Beijing Guangzhou railway run through the north and south, with superior regional location and convenient transportation. The township covers a total area of 64 square kilometers, with a cultivated area of 44000 mu. It governs 12 administrative villages, including Changtai, yuzhai, Fenglou, Wangchang, Qiuzhuang, sulou, Maying, Wangtang, Yangmiao, Lugang, zhaowa and Xinji, 1 neighborhood committee, 165 villager groups, 29000 people, and 7148 permanent residents. Beijing Guangzhou railway and 107 National Road cross the border, and Huaihe River cross the border. Historic sites include the prince city of the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, the King City of Chu, Chu tombs, Longshan cultural sites, etc.

history

Changtaiguan township has a long history, long history and profound culture. There are many places of interest and historic sites. Chengyang city site (the site of king of Chu City) is a key cultural relic protection unit at the national level. The allusion that "it is not too late to mend a dead sheep" comes from it. There are also ancient cultural sites such as taizicheng, shaijinchang and Paomaling. Since the excavation of Chu tomb No.1 in 1957, more than 2000 pieces of various cultural relics have been unearthed, including bronzes, wooden lacquerware, pottery, ant nose money and so on. Among them, 13 Chimes (existing in the Museum of Chinese History) with accurate scale and beautiful sound quality have been unearthed. The music "Dongfanghong" played by them traveled in space with China's first man-made satellite in 1970, and the sound shocked the world. More than 700 pieces of cultural relics were unearthed from tomb No. 7 excavated in 2002. Among them, two sets of bronze wares are "resplendent in gold and jade, and one is rusty", which can be regarded as rare treasures. Today, the site and tombs of Chengyang still play an important role in the study of Chu culture. It is the largest, best preserved and most valuable ancient city in China. "Changtai ancient ferry" is one of the eight scenic spots in Xinyang.
