Shihegang town

Shihegang town is located in the southwest of Shihe District, Xinyang City, Henan Province, on the Bank of the beautiful Nanwan lake. Heilongtan and Bailongtan, the "two pools" in the territory, are one of the concentrated producing areas of high-quality Xinyang Maojian tea.

With an area of 231.1 square kilometers, the town governs 18 administrative villages (neighborhood committees), 217 villager groups and a population of 30723 (2017).

Historical evolution

Shihegang district was established in 1951, changed into commune in 1958, and changed into Township in 1983, covering an area of 306 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over a neighborhood committee of shihegang street and 17 administrative villages of haojiachong, Xiwan, baiyunsi, Longtan, majiafan, Heilongtan, Datian, siwangshan, hugang, Linchang, Baimiao, xiajiachong, Taoyuan, doupo, huangmiao, Yimiao and fengjiachong. In 1998, the former Xinyang County was put under the jurisdiction of Shihe district. In January 2010, Henan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved the removal of township.

It is a famous tea country with Golden Awards. Shihe port is located in the transition zone from subtropical zone to warm temperate zone, with an average altitude of more than 700 meters. The climate is mild, the air is humid, the soil is fertile, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. The ecological environment is most suitable for the growth of tea trees. It has a long history of planting tea, and the tea produced was a tribute to the imperial court as early as the Tang Dynasty. It has rich experience in cultivation and management, and has unique conditions for producing famous and high-quality tea. It is the Gold Award "Longtan" Brand "Xinyang Maojian" is the authentic origin. The town's existing tea garden area of more than 150000 mu, annual output of dry tea up to 5 million kg, output value of 500 million yuan. The tea is famous both at home and abroad for its "fine, round, light, straight, white hair, clear soup, green color, strong and lasting fragrance and mellow taste". It is praised as "the hometown of tea king" by Yu Jie, a famous tea expert and Chinese tea quality judge.

Red history

Shihegang town

It's the red land forever in history. As early as 1927, the South Henan special committee of the Communist Party of China launched the "siwangshan uprising" which shocked the Central Plains, launched the first shot of the earth revolution in the Central Plains, created the first red area of Henan Province with siwangshan as the center and more than 100 li in length, and opened the prelude of the Land Revolutionary War in Henan. During the Anti Japanese War, Li Xiannian, Zhu Lizhi and Chen Shaomin presided over the "four outlooks meeting" attended by senior party and army cadres from southern Henan, central Hubei and Western Hubei, and directed dozens of Anti Japanese battles and established a solid Anti Japanese base area. During the war of liberation, the Party committee, the government, the new Fifth Division headquarters and other leading organs of the Henan Hubei border region moved from dawushan to this area. Taking this as the center, they successfully counterattacked the civil war launched by the Kuomintang in southern Henan. The novel "Tongbai hero", the film "Xiaohua" and the TV series "breakthrough in the Central Plains" all told the story of the battle that took place here during the Anti Japanese war.
