Peicheng town

Peicheng town is located in the northwest of Yancheng District, Luohe City, Henan Province, bordering Shangqiao town and Xindian town in the East, Taiwei township of Wuyang County in the south, Jiangzhuang township of Xiangcheng County in the West and Daguo township of Linying County in the north, with a total area of 79.71 square kilometers (2017) and 5214.6 hectares of cultivated land.

Historical remains

The rebellion of Pingwu and Yuanji

According to historical records, in 814, Wu Yuanji, the son of Wu Shaoyang, the governor of Huaixi, led a rebellion and took charge of caizhou. Tang Xianzong sent tens of thousands of troops to fight against it, but failed to overcome it. Pei du (765-839), the prime minister, asked his soldiers to supervise the battle in person. They went to Huiqu town in Yancheng to build a camp. In the winter of the 12th year of Yuanhe (A.D. 817), Pei Du sent a special envoy, Li Shuo, to attack caizhou on a snowy night, and won at one stroke. This is the famous rebellion of Pingwu and Yuanji in history. In recognition of Pei Du's contribution to CAI, Tang Xianzong named Pei Du "Duke of Jin". In memory of Pei Du, the local people renamed Huiqu town Peicheng. At that time, Pei Du lived here for four months, and was loved by the people in Yancheng. He built a temple and built a monument for him. The site of the monument is still there. Peijin Temple (Peicheng primary school) in Peicheng village also has two tall stone tablets, which record Peidu's deeds in Yancheng. The poem "feeling of crossing the Huiqu River" written by Guo zibang, a poet of the Qing Dynasty, says: "Pei Xiang stationed troops to go back to the Quhe River, holding a goose in the pool on a snowy night.
