Wunvdian Town, Jian'an District, Xuchang City, is located 18 kilometers to the east of Jian'an District, bordering chenhuadian town of Yanling County in the East, Dengzhuang Township in the west, zhangpan town in the South and chencao Township in the north. Its postcode is 461114. Within the jurisdiction, 311 national highway, Danyu local railway across the East and West, Lannan Expressway across the southeast, Chen Wu Zhang highway across the north and south, more than 10 kilometers west of 107 national highway, Beijing Zhuhai Expressway and Beijing Wuhan high speed railway, with convenient transportation and obvious location advantages. The total area is 74.48 square kilometers (2017), with 4767 hectares of arable land.

Wunvdian town was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns in 2018.

Historical evolution

Gu Zuyu of Qing Dynasty said in the summary of Fang Yu who read history that "wunvdian is 30 Li to the west of the county, and another 30 Li to the southwest of the county is Xuzhou.". It is said that the Fu family, the empress of Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty, and his four sisters were killed by the fighting and buried here. Hence the name "five women shop". It is also said that in Qi and Liang dynasties, there were five women who avoided the war and died of being humiliated. Another ancient road from Xuzhou to Yanling opened a shop here, so it was named five women shop. Since the Ming Dynasty, the area under the jurisdiction of today is built in 1875, also known as wundian village, which includes Le Xubao, Wu Jiebao, Xu Fubao, Qi Libao and Yu xiubao. In 1941, it belonged to WuJie and zhangpan towns, Leshu and Qili townships; in the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the second district (wunvdian District); in 1958, it established wunvdian commune. In 1966, it was renamed "Dongfeng" commune during the "Cultural Revolution", and it was renamed "Dongfeng" commune after 1973; in 1984, it was changed from commune to wundian township. In May 1989, the township was removed to build a town.
