At the beginning of 2014, with the consent of Henan provincial government, Henan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved the renaming of Gaocun township as Wangtun Township with yuminxingpi (2014) No.1 document. There are 5712 households in Wangtun Township, with an agricultural population of 9648. Among them, the continuous planting area of Welsh onion is 11000 mu. In 2002, eight Welsh Onion Production villages have been built, including dongyanling, gaoyanling, ZhangYanLing, xueyanling, Donghuang, Xihuang, Wangcun and Xinzhuang. There are 3000 farmers planting scallion, accounting for 53% of the total number of households in the township.

General situation of hometown

In 2002, the administrative and business departments at all levels of county and township paid special attention to the production of scallion in Wangtun Township, invested nearly one million yuan to improve the construction of farmland infrastructure, hardened 4 km of roads, buried 5000 mu of water-saving pipelines, and the water, electricity and road infrastructure of scallion base has been initially improved. The County Agricultural Bureau appointed scientific and technological personnel to guide the production of scallion, introduced eight new varieties of scallion to carry out experiments and demonstrations, purified and rejuvenated the local scallion in Bagong, and promoted the wheat melon scallion cultivation mode of 6000 mu and the onion wheat cultivation mode of 5000 mu. In 2002, the total yield of scallion in the township was 330000 kg, and the income per mu reached 35 million yuan, which is called Xiuwu scallion characteristic township.

Traffic location

Wangtun township is located 5 kilometers southwest of Xiuwu County, bordering on Jiafeng town in the East, Longyuan town in Wuzhi County in the south, Jiaozuo New District in the West and Chengguan town in the north.
