Qiliying town

Qiliying town of Xinxiang County is located in Northern Henan Plain, 18 kilometers southwest of Xinxiang City. It is adjacent to Taihang in the north, overlooking the Yellow River in the south, 107 National Highway and Xinzheng highway passing through, and Beijing Guangzhou railway and Xinhe railway circling the town. The traffic is very convenient and the geographical location is superior. Qiliying town is the largest township in Xinxiang City, with 53 natural villages, 51 administrative villages, 73439 people, 5890 hectares of cultivated land and 108.13 square kilometers (2017), which is one of the largest towns in Northern Henan. With a population of 104672 (in 2017), there are 78 grassroots party branches in the town, including 4 village level party committees, 2 village level party branches and 3959 party members.

According to historical records, qiliying was settled as early as the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD), and a village was formed in the late Tang Dynasty. Qiliying was originally named shuangyangji. Xiao Yinzong, a famous general of the northern kingdom of Song Dynasty, once camped here. Because it was 7 li away from Xiaoji, it was renamed qiliying, which is still in use today.

Qiliying town was under the jurisdiction of Weihui Prefecture in ancient times. It was divided into the Fourth District in 1932 and the Fourth District in 1937. It was divided into the third and fifth districts in 1937. In 1945, it was Heping Township, which was under the jurisdiction of the Fifth District. In 1946, the township was merged and under the jurisdiction of Xiaoji town. After liberation, it was under the jurisdiction of the Fourth District of Xinxiang County until the establishment of qiliying people's commune in 1958. It was changed into qiliying Township in 1983 and was withdrawn in December 1995 The town is still in its infancy.

History and culture

Qiliying, as the vanguard and red experimental field of China's rural reform, development and construction, has always stood at the forefront of the times and attracted worldwide attention. In the spring of 1928, Xiazhuang Party branch of qiliying, the earliest grass-roots party organization in Xinxiang County, Henan Province, was established. As early as the 1950s and 1960s, qiliying was famous for its high yield and contribution of grain and cotton. On August 6, 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong came to qiliying for inspection, which made qiliying famous all over the world.
