Jiaodian Town, Xinhua District, Pingdingshan City is located in the middle of the new and old urban areas in the west section of Jianshe Road, with a total area of 23.63 square kilometers (in 2017), 13 administrative villages and 23 natural villages, and a population of 17379 (in 2017). The traffic in Jiaodian town is smooth and convenient.

The geographical environment of the township is beautiful. In the north of the town, there are many peaks, such as leigutai and Luofu Mountain. It is one of the top ten scenic spots in Pingdingshan City. The eastern edge of Xiangshan ancient temple is lush with vegetation and beautiful clouds. In the south of the town, there is Baiguishan Reservoir, a tourist resort with green waves, fishing lights and pavilions. Mengbao railway and Pingdingshan Coal Railway run through the East and west of the township. The new urban expressway, Chengping Road, Pingjia Road, West Ring Road, North Ring Road and nanluo Expressway crisscross. The town government is 15km away from the entrance of Xuping South Expressway, 2km away from the entrance of nanluo Expressway and 5km away from Pingdingshan railway station of Jiaozhi railway. The urban and rural roads are complementary and the traffic network extends in all directions .

Since the reform and opening up, all previous Party committees and governments of Jiaodian town have led the people of Jiaodian town to adhere to the reform and opening up and vigorously develop the regional economy, which has promoted the rapid economic development of the whole town and the comprehensive progress of various social undertakings. Jiaodian town has 13000 mu of arable land, with only one mu of arable land per capita. In the development of agricultural economy, Jiaodian Town, based on market demand, broke the tradition of mainly planting grain, took the road of paying attention to characteristics and prospering agriculture with science and technology, and initially formed a development pattern of mainly planting fruit and animal husbandry and combining planting and breeding. Six forest and fruit planting parks have been built, including chenglongmenkou special fruit picking garden, longmenkou ecological forest base, and Sanmashan pomegranate garden; four breeding bases have been built, including longmenkou Small Tail Han sheep, xiguodian, Xinzhuang pig breeding, and xiwuzhuang broiler production. In 2005, the total agricultural output value of the whole town was 66.5 million yuan. The situation of industrial economy is strong. The local coal industry is the pillar industry of the town. There are 13 pairs of local coal mines in the town, with an annual output of 1.5 million tons and an output value of 465 million yuan. Driven by pillar industries, a new pattern of common development of various industries has been formed. There are more than 40 industrial enterprises in the town, including clothing, coal, machinery, new materials, new building materials and glass, with more than 8600 employees. Since 2005, focusing on the development strategy of "three parks and one corridor" proposed by the district government, Jiaodian town has made great efforts to develop high-tech industry and recycling industry by utilizing the abundant resources of coal, electricity, gas, fly ash, gangue, etc. In 2005, the total industrial output value of the town was 668 million yuan, which was rated as the advanced town for the development of industrial enterprises by the municipal Party committee and the municipal government.
