Zhangshi town is adjacent to Tongxu County in the East, Jialu River in the West and Zhengzhou Zhoukou provincial road. With 69.6 square kilometers and 78000 mu of arable land, Weishi County is the largest minority inhabited area and an advanced unit of national unity and progress at the provincial and municipal levels. Zhangshi town is the hometown of Liu Rengui and Shi Wenzhuo. On the afternoon of May 9, 2014, general secretary Xi Jinping visited the high standard grain and field comprehensive development demonstration area in Zhangshi, and held a symposium of cadres and villagers' representatives in Zhangshi town to learn more about the educational practice at township level, and to listen to the opinions and suggestions of grassroots cadres and masses.

On June 20, 2020, it was named the first batch of "beautiful towns" in Henan Province.

Historical evolution

Zhangshi commune was established in 1958, Zhangshi township was changed in 1983, and Zhangshi town was established in 1996. It covers an area of 69.6 square kilometers and has a population of 57000.

geographical environment

Zhangshi is flat and belongs to the alluvial plain of the Yellow River. It is the center of the Yellow River flooding area in the east of Henan Province. There are a few sand hills such as Wugang, Zhenggang and Liuzhuang. The terrain inclines from northwest to Southeast, with an average altitude of about 65 meters. There are two main rivers in the territory: the first is the Jialu River, which runs through the western edge of the town and is the boundary river between the two towns of Zhangshi Daqiao, with a transit length of 6.5 km; the second is the Weifu River, whose birthplace is the southern area of Zhangshi, and enters Yongxing Town from the southeast along the junction of Zhangshi and Xiaochen. The vast majority of the town belongs to the Weifu River Basin.

In recent years, centering on ensuring supply, optimizing structure and integrating industry, the town has formed the core areas of Shenjia village, Xiaozhai village and Shitan village by focusing on grain production and optimizing structure. It has built 57000 Mu high-quality wheat production base, 500 mu Asparagus Planting in Yinzhuang village and Gaozhuang village, greenhouse watermelon and vegetable planting in Biangang village, fruit and grass planting in Guocun village of Yulin Nearly 10000 mu of medicinal plants are planted, and 27000 tons of high-quality big peaches are produced annually. Big peaches and Guojia peach blossom in Guocun of Yulin have become new agricultural development brands in Zhangshi town. In addition, Shenjia, Xiaozhai, Shitan and other villages have formed the agricultural industrial structure of planting Chinese herbal medicine through the "cooperative + poor households" mode. The high quality special wheat accounts for nearly 100% of the total area of summer grain in the town, and the coverage rate of high standard grain field is 100%. The annual production of high quality special wheat is more than 28000 tons. Through the intercropping and interplanting mode of "wheat watermelon pepper", the intercropping and interplanting mode of watermelon and pepper after wheat harvest, the area of melon and vegetable reaches nearly 40000 mu.
