Historical and cultural Legends

During the spring and Autumn period, Confucius led his disciples to travel around the world, and they were once poor. When they came to a village in the east of Qi County, they were hungry, but they had nothing to eat. His disciples had to steal a chicken from the farmhouse and cook it for Confucius to eat. When Confucius learned that the chicken was stolen, he reprimanded his disciples and went to the farmhouse to apologize. Later, in memory of Confucius, people called the village "the reparation shop". I don't know how many years have passed before the name of this village has gradually become today's "peicundian". there is another interesting story about the origin of the name of peicundian, which also happened when Confucius traveled around the world. It seems to be closer to the historical facts. When he was 55 years old, he ended his political career in Lu and began to travel around the world. He led his disciples to Wei first. Wei linggong, the monarch of the state of Wei, was very respectful to Confucius and gave him good treatment, but he didn't give him official posts. After living for about 10 months, Confucius decided to leave the state of Wei and go to the state of Chen. When they came to Kuangcheng, Yan Ke, a disciple driving for Confucius, pointed to the gap in the city wall with a whip and said excitedly, "I used to follow Yanghu to attack Kuangcheng. That's where I broke into Kuangcheng." This happened to be heard by the villagers working in the roadside fields. So the crowd rose in a crowd, waving all kinds of farm tools and sticks, surrounded Confucius and his disciples, shouting to ask Yanghu for his blood. Yanghu, also known as Yanghuo, is a member of Ji's family. He once led the army to attack Kuang City, killing people like hemp, robbing countless gold and silver treasures. It is said that Confucius looks like Yang Hu. When Yang Hu attacked Kuangcheng, Yan Ke drove for him. So, hearing Yan Ke's words, Kuangcheng people mistakenly thought it was Yang Hu, the devil, who came again. They hated Yang Hu so much that they stopped Confucius and his party and besieged them. In the face of the sudden crisis, the disciples took up arms and prepared to fight. Confucius, however, was calm, and asked Zilu to play the piano and sing his own songs. The elegant music and singing make Kuangcheng people realize that they may have mistaken people and think that these people can't be barbaric Yanghu. After inquiring, they found out that it was Confucius and his disciples who were surrounded by them. So the people made way and bowed them away. Afterwards, the people of Kuangcheng deeply regretted the incident of encircling Confucius. After discussion, they decided to send someone to apologize to Confucius. It took them more than 20 miles to catch up with Confucius in a village. The village in Kuangcheng, where the people apologized to Confucius, got its name from this. Later, it was called peicundian. The siege of Confucius Kuangcheng is recorded in historical records, which is the first ordeal that Confucius experienced when he traveled around the world. The Analects of Confucius also recorded two paragraphs of Confucius when he was besieged by Kuangcheng people, showing his inner calm and self-confidence. At the critical moment of being besieged by Kuangcheng people, Confucius said to his disciples, "after the death of King Wen of Zhou Dynasty, isn't the ritual and music culture of Zhou Dynasty embodied in me? If God wants to exterminate this culture, he won't let me master it. If God can't exterminate this culture, what can Kuang people do to me? " When Confucius was besieged by Kuangcheng people, his disciple Yan Hui was separated and finally came to join him. Confucius joked with him, "I thought you were dead." Yan Hui replied with a smile: "teacher, you are still alive. How dare Yan Hui die?" At that time, Kuangcheng belonged to the state of song. It was located in Kuangcheng Township, 25 miles southwest of Sui County in Shangqiu, Henan Province, adjacent to peicundian Township in Qi county. From the perspective of geographical location, Confucius must pass through DiQiu, the capital of Wei state (Puyang, Henan), wanqiu, the capital of Chen state (Huaiyang, Henan), Kuangcheng in Sui County and peicundian in Qi county. according to the route of Confucius' traveling around the world, before he and his disciples passed these two places, they had to pass Yifeng Township in Lankao County, which is adjacent to them. In the Analects of Confucius, there is a story about "Yi Feng Ren see Confucius", which happened there. It is said that there is still a tablet of Confucius in Lankao County. According to the Analects of Confucius, when Confucius left the state of Wei and went to the state of Chen, he passed by Yi Yi, a border guard official came to see him. "I have never seen a gentleman who came here," he said When Confucius' disciples saw that he was sincere, they let him in to meet him. When he came out, he said to Confucius' disciples, "why do you worry about the teacher losing his official position? There has been no way in the world for a long time. God asked him to come out and teach the world. " "Yi Feng Ren" in the Analects of Confucius is usually translated as "the official who defends the border of Yi Yi Yi of Wei state". "Yi" is a place name, which is the border city of Wei state in the spring and Autumn period, that is, Kaifeng City now; "Fengren" is the official guarding the border. in the spring and Autumn period, the present Lankao County is roughly divided into two parts: the western part belongs to the state of Wei, and the eastern part belongs to the state of Dai. In 713 BC, the weak state of Dai was destroyed by the state of Zheng. Although the state of Wei was shrinking, it existed for more than 830 years and was not destroyed by Qin II until 209 BC. In the process of historical development after the Qin and Han Dynasties, donghun county and Gu County were set up in Lankao County. Later, they evolved into Lanyang County, Yifeng county and kaocheng county. Finally, Lanyang county and Yifeng County merged into Lanfeng county. The present Lankao County is a combination of the original Lanfeng and kaocheng counties. The name "Yifeng" comes from the story of "Yifeng people see Confucius". Therefore, Lankao County is also known as the place where Confucius has gone through the transition ". Confucius was born in the state of Lu in the spring and Autumn period. He was very famous before he was 30 years old, but he didn't become an official in the state of Lu until he was 51 years old. At the age of 54, Confucius was promoted to Sikou, and soon he was appointed as acting prime minister, reaching the peak of his political career. At this time, the state of Qi sent 80 beauties to the state of Lu. The Duke and his ministers of Luding were infatuated with singing and dancing and ignored the government for many days. Confucius was very disappointed. He thought it was very difficult for him to make a difference in the state of Lu, so he took his disciples on the journey of traveling around the world. Confucius was the first to come to the state of Wei, and he was not valued. On his way from Wei to Chen, he was besieged in Kuangcheng for five days. Just after fleeing, he was besieged again by the aristocratic rebellion of the Wei state, and it took a lot of trouble to escape. He and his disciples worked hard for many days, but still had no way to go, and finally returned to the Wei state. Confucius had been in exile for 14 years and suffered a lot. He lived in the state of Wei for the longest time and had been there three times. Then, from Wei state to Zheng state through Cao state and Song state, and from Zheng state to Chen state, "it's like a lost dog.". However, whether he went from the state of Wei to the state of Chen or from the state of Cao to the state of Zheng, Lankao and Qi county are the places he had to pass. Peicundian and Yifeng are his footprints on this land.
