Dehua Street

Dehua Street is now a Pedestrian Commercial Street in Erqi District of Zhengzhou city. It is located in the central area of Zhengzhou City and the core area of Commerce and trade. It is adjacent to Guancheng District in the East, Fushou street in the west, Datong Road in the South and West Street in the north. The total area is 0.24 square kilometers. Dehua Street was built in 1905. After the completion and opening of the Beijing Wuhan Railway in 1901, the commercial development of Zhengzhou was promoted.

Dehua town was established in 1942, Dehua government was established in 1952, Dehua Street was changed in 1958, Erqi road street was changed in 1966, and Dehua Street was changed again in 1980. In 1997, with an area of 0.2 square kilometers and a population of 9000, it has jurisdiction over 10 neighborhood committees, namely Dehua Street, wenhuali street, yuyuanli street, Yuanling street, Shiping street, Baoshou street, Yanling street, Datong Road, West Street and South Street.

Dehua Street was built in 1905. After the completion and opening of the Beijing Wuhan Railway in 1901, the commercial development of Zhengzhou was promoted. At that time, Chen longzou, the governor of Henan Province, asked the Qing government for approval, turned Zhengzhou into a commercial port, and began to plan road construction around Zhengzhou, which formed Dehua Street. At that time, the street was bounded by Yuanling street, which was named tianzhongli in the South and Huiren street in the north. In the late Qing Dynasty, Liu bangji, a member of the people's Congress, took the meaning of "moral education" and named Dehua Street, which is still in use today. Dehua Street is one of the most prosperous streets in Zhengzhou. Famous shops such as demaoxiang pickled vegetable garden, Tongrentang pharmacy, kuixiang Huapu, Juntai bank, wuzhoupai newspaper (publishing newspapers), Boji hospital, hongxingyuan No.1 semicolon, tianyiquan bath (the predecessor of Dehua Street bath), Kyoto laocaiji wonton restaurant and Laozhang Wai wonton restaurant appeared one after another. This street starts from Datong Road in the South and ends at Erqi square in the north. It is 400 meters long and 10 meters wide. It is a short and narrow street with many shops. In its heyday, there were tens of thousands of customers a day. In 1930s and 1940s, Dehua Street was the main commercial street in Zhengzhou at that time, which was very prosperous. According to the old saying, Dehua Street at that time was "like a meeting every day, like a spring festival every day.". After the liberation of Zhengzhou in October 1948, Dehua Street became more and more prosperous after the transformation of industry and commerce. The government has vigorously renovated the street, paved the asphalt pavement, renovated the shops and storefronts for many times, built many buildings and possessed various industries. Dehua Street has become a real commercial center of Zhengzhou City, and its economic position in Zhengzhou city is getting higher and higher. Mao Zedong, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi and other party and state leaders, General Chen Geng and famous Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang once visited guojiehua street and dined at the old Caiji wonton restaurant in Kyoto, which was located in the north section of Dehua North Street at that time. They gave a high evaluation to the steamed dumplings and wonton of the restaurant.

Since 1987, Dehua Street has been transformed into an old city. In the north end, there is a new Asia shopping mall. In the middle, there are Dehua Street department store, Suntory shopping mall, Dehua Street bath, maternal and child products building, Liuhulan non-staple food building, etc. The transformation of Dehua Street has built a new commercial giant Asia, followed by the well-known 27 business war, and the modern commercial pattern of Zhengzhou has gradually formed.

In the middle and late 1990s, with the smoke of the February 7th commercial war gradually receding, Zhengzhou's commerce was promoted to diversified development. With the emergence of jinboda, Dennis and other large shopping malls, Dehua Street, a century old street, is no longer beautiful. It is in this case that in August 2000, the people's Government of Zhengzhou City issued the official reply on agreeing to build Dehua Street into a commercial pedestrian street (Zheng Zhengwen No. 186), officially establishing a project to build Dehua commercial pedestrian street. Today, Dehua commercial pedestrian street, with a total investment of about 176 million yuan and a demolition area of about 58000 square meters, was officially opened on December 28, 2002. The new Dehua Street adheres to the purpose and concept of "people-oriented". It is a high-grade and high-grade pedestrian street with both economic and social benefits, integrating commerce, entertainment, leisure, food, culture and tourism.

In 2006, at the "2006 China Commercial Street Development Summit Forum" held in Chongqing, Dehua pedestrian street in Zhengzhou was awarded the title of "China famous commercial street" by China Pedestrian Commercial Street Working Committee. Only 10 commercial roads including Wangfujing in Beijing, Nanjing Road in Shanghai and Huangtou street in Nanjing were selected as "China famous commercial street". It means that Dehua Pedestrian Commercial Street in Zhengzhou will become the first national pedestrian street in Central China, marking that Dehua Street has become as famous as Wangfujing in Beijing, Nanjing Road in Shanghai and other famous commercial streets in China.
