Taoxu town

Taoxu town is located in the south of Mengyin County, with Mengshan in front and Yunmeng Lake in back. It has a total area of 170.71 square kilometers, 22 kilometers from east to west and 18 kilometers from north to south. It has jurisdiction over 39 administrative villages with 45919 people (2017).

Taoxu town is 13 kilometers away from Mengyin County, 153 kilometers away from Jinan and 67 kilometers away from Linyi. The terrain in the territory is high in the South and low in the north. It is a pure mountain area. There are 50 big mountains such as fujiazhai, longtougu, Qingya and so on, and 3 peaks above 1000 meters above sea level. In the northeast, Yunmeng lake, Taoxu River, Yanzhuang River and other rivers flow through the town. The name of peach market has a long history. There are many peach trees in this place since ancient times. In the name of "Taoxu", there are two villages in the north and the south, which are called nantaoxu and beitaoxu. Beitaoxu was inundated by Yunmeng Lake in 1960. Also known as luwangtai site, it is located in the northwest of Damiao village, 0.5 km southwest of Taoxu town. Mengyin County annals written by Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty records: "the reading platform of Duke Xuan of Lu is located in the west of Damiao village, which covers an area of several mu. It is said that Duke Xuan came to meet the Marquis of Qi Dynasty. Before the Marquis of Qi Dynasty arrived, there are still ruins here." According to Wang's genealogy of the grand temple, "there is a grand temple village at Taoxu in the city. There is a platform hundreds of steps to the west of the temple. It has a width of 20 mu above it. It is the meeting place of Duke Xuan of Lu and the Marquis of Qi." According to the actual research, the platform is located on the north side of the mountain and on the south side of the fault, 4-5 meters above the ground. It is a natural alluvial platform. With an area of 7200 square meters, ancient bricks and tiles can be seen everywhere. At present, the unearthed cultural relics include animal bones, pottery pieces, bean stalks, cuzu, baht coins, etc. the cultural layer is 1-2 meters, belonging to the Shang and Zhou culture. The site was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit at the county level in 1982.
