The origin of town name

Yangyi: Yang, the North Bank of the river, gets its name because it's on the North Bank of Nanming River. It means city, so it's a small city on the north bank.

Evolution of organizational system

In 1953, Yangyi township was established. In 1958, it was changed into a commune. In 1984, it was changed into a town. In 1996, Liuhe Township was incorporated into the city. In 1997, it covered an area of 107 square kilometers and had a population of 42000.

Yangyi town is located in Wu'an city, Handan City, southwest Hebei Province, 30 kilometers east of Wu'an city. Yangyi town is at the junction of Zuoquan in Shanxi Province and Shexian in Hebei Province. Hanchang railway runs through the town. Pingshe highway, Wuzuo highway and Ciyang highway meet in the town.

Located at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, xiaomotianling mountain and Shibapan mountain range are the remaining veins of Taihang Mountain. The middle part is the Intermountain basin, which is called "Yangyi basin". The tributaries of Nanming River, taochuan and mujingchuan, meet in the northwest of the town and flow to the southeast, running through the whole town. The terrain inclines from northwest to Southeast, and the altitude ranges from 400m to 1000m,

In 2005, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town reached 4.69 billion yuan. Among them, the primary industry is 83.46 million yuan, the secondary industry is 4.58 billion yuan, and the tertiary industry is 32.2 million yuan, accounting for 2.4%, 94% and 3.6% of the total output value respectively. The per capita net income of farmers is 3350 yuan.

Transportation

Yangyi town is located in the traffic hub of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan. National Highway 309, Wu (an) Zuo (Quan), Wu (an) CI (Shan) Yang (Yi) highway cross at Yangyi. Handan Changzhi railway and Handan Changzhi highway pass through the territory, and Yangyi mixed passenger and freight station is set up.
