Ziyang Township

Ziyang township is located in the northernmost part of Shangyou County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. The area is 121.04 square kilometers (2018), and the registered residence population is about 13 thousand and 700 (2018), with 6 administrative villages under control (October 2019).

Ziyang township is the hometown of Huang Lusheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is rich in stone, water and electricity resources. It is known as the hometown of stone, the hometown of Camellia oleifera and Shangyou granary.

Historical evolution

Ziyang is named after Ziyang mountain, the seat of the government.

During the Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty, due to the new establishment of Chongyi County, it was under the jurisdiction of Chongyi County, so Ziyang township was also known as "digging and mending land".

In 1934, it was under the jurisdiction of Shangyou County.

On the eve of liberation, it was Ziyang township.

At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Ziyang Township, the fourth district.

In 1953, it was divided into five townships: Ziyang, democracy, Republic, mutual assistance and cooperation.

In 1958, it was merged into Ziyang commune.

In 1984, Ziyang township was changed.

Ziyang township is located in the northernmost part of Shangyou County, 58 kilometers away from Shangyou County and 37 kilometers away from Suichuan County. It is connected with Pingshi township of Nankang city in the East, Shuangxi Township and Sixia town in the west, Anhe Township and Shexi town in the South and Heyuan town of Suichuan County in the north. It covers an area of 121.04 square kilometers.

In 2011, the township has built 4 large-scale farms with more than 500 live pigs, 2 meat geese farms, 40 pig demonstration households, 5000 live pigs and 4500 meat geese. Since 2011, three efficient Camellia bases have been established in gaojiping village, Shengli village and Xiuluo village, covering an area of nearly 10000 mu.
