Hanfang town

Han Fang Town, belonging to Ganxian District of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southern part of Ganxian District, Ganzhou. The area is 281.91 square kilometers, and the registered residence population is 44 thousand and 800 (2018). It has 1 residential committees and 20 Village Committees (2019).

Hanfang town has four market towns: Hanfang, Xiaoben, Xiaoping and Changyan. Famous and high-quality specialty products include flue-cured tobacco, tea oil, small pepper, off-season cultivated mushroom, sweet corn, pine resin, etc. among them, flue-cured tobacco production reaches more than 10000 tons per year, which is the leading agricultural industry in the town, the "Wandan flue-cured tobacco town" and the "provincial high-quality flue-cured tobacco production base in Jiangxi Province".

Historical evolution

In 1930, Taojiang district was set up, which belonged to Hanfang township. In the same year, the Soviet government of Niuling district was established in Xiaoping township. In July of the same year, the Soviet government of Hanfang district was established, and Mao Zedong, Peng Dehuai and others went to Hanfang to carry out revolutionary activities.

In 1933, the CPC Xinkang County Committee and the county Soviet government moved to Niuling, Xiaoping township.

In June 1950, there were 11 districts in Ganxian County, and Hanfang township was the first district.

In August 1956, Hanfang district was abolished.

In 1960, Hanfang commune was established.

In October 1961, the district level system was restored. Hanfang District governs three communes: Xiaoben, Hanfang and Changyan.

In September 1964, Hanfang district was abolished.

He Qirui

Liao Rongbiao

Liao Rongbiao (1912-1979), formerly known as Liao Zhixiu, was born in Shuikou village, Hanfang, Ganxian County, Jiangxi Province. He is an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China and a senior general of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. He was awarded the rank of lieutenant general in 1955.
