Yaowei town

Yaowei town is a town under the jurisdiction of Yushui District, Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the east of Yushui District, in the middle and lower reaches of Yuanhe River. It is adjacent to Xinxi in the East, Luofang in the west, Nan'an in the South and huangtugang town in Zhangshu City across the River in the north. It has 14 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee, 102 village groups and 112 natural villages, with a total population of 15299 (2017). The cultivated land area of the town is 33250.46 mu, including 23208.46 mu of paddy field and 10042 mu of dry land. The mountainous area is 2093 hectares, and the forest coverage rate is 30.6%.

Historical evolution

It got its name from Yaowei market town. At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Yaowei Township, the seventh district. Yaowei commune was established in 1961, township was changed in 1984, and town was established in 1988. In 1997, it covers an area of 71 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. It has jurisdiction over 14 administrative villages and Yaowei neighborhood committee, including Yaowei, Xinsong, Zhongyuan, Lingxi, Hebu, Nanhe, Wanli, Gaohu, Jiangjia, Peigang, Liujia, Wanquan, Nianjia and Yaojia. The town government is located in Yaowei street, 28 kilometers away from the district government.

Natural climate

Yaowei town is located in the east of Yushui, in the middle and lower reaches of Yuanhe River, adjacent to Xinxi in the East, Luofang in the west, Nan'an in the South and huangtugang town in Zhangshu City across the river in the north. It has 14 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee, 102 village groups and 112 natural villages, with a total population of 15299 (2017). Yaowei town has a subtropical humid climate with four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, sufficient light, short frost period and long growth period. Yaowei town is a plain alluvial zone, the surface layer of the ground system is alluvial sediment silt, the underground surface water system is rich, the land is fertile, suitable for the growth of a variety of crops. The plain is mainly rich in grain, cotton and rapeseed, while the mountainous areas have been basically developed, mainly producing oil tea, citrus, pine resin, etc. Lishang thousand mu orchard, developed by Laogan Bureau, produces hundreds of thousands of Jin of oranges (Pengjia 39) every year. With beautiful environment, quiet and convenient transportation, it is a good place for recuperation and accommodation. Yaowei is a big agricultural town. It sells 21000 pigs, 20000 tons of cotton, 40.13 million jin of grain and more than 400000 Jin of oranges every year.

It has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee of Yaowei community, 14 administrative villages including Yaowei village, Nianjia village, Wanquan village, Liujia village, Shuxi village, Peigang village, Jiangjia village, Gaohu village, Yaojia village, Wanli village, Nanhe village, Xinsong village, Hebu village and Zhongyuan village, and the town government is located in Yaowei street.

economic development

Since the reform and opening up, the number of migrant workers in the town has increased year by year. According to statistics, there are 11218 migrant workers, accounting for 37.8% of the total population and 76.4% of the working population, with an annual income of more than 60 million yuan. Due to a large number of labor, land circulation has formed a scale. In 2001, 11638 mu of land was transferred in the whole town. The construction of villages and towns has developed rapidly. By 2001, the whole town had approved 2013 new well-off buildings for farmers, accounting for 31% of the farmers in the whole town. It is the best town with the largest number of farmers building houses in the whole city and the whole province. Labor export, land transfer and village and town construction have formed three major work brands in the whole town, which have been affirmed by the whole province.

Transportation facilities

The transportation and communication of Yaowei town are very convenient. The Jiangxi Guangdong Expressway runs across the town, and the entrance and exit are set at 3.5km away from the market town. Xinyu - Nan'an, Xinyu - Xinxi two secondary roads through the town. The installed capacity of Telecom is 1000.
