Mingkou town

Mingkou town is located in the east of Leping City, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province. It is adjacent to Sizhou town of Dexing City in the East, cormorant Township in the west, shiligang Township and Zhongbu town in the south, and Gaojia town in the north. Mingkou village is 44 km away from Leping City. It has 12 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee. The total area is 111.4 square kilometers. The area of cultivated land is 21542.96 mu, including 19560.96 mu of paddy field, 1982 mu of dry land, 108000 mu of mountainous area, 41% of forest coverage, and 5100 mu of water area, including 1995 mu of aquaculture water area.

Historical evolution

Mingkou is located at the entrance of Mingxi River to Le'an River. The town is named according to the location. Because "Ming" is a remote word, the homonym "mingkou" is used. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Junfeng and bigang townships. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Junfeng and bigang townships of five districts (Wantou). In January 1950, it belonged to eight districts (mingkou), mingkou, Taibai and Liufang. In June 1952, it belonged to mingkou, daicun, Liufang and chikou townships of mingkou district. At the end of 1953, Fengyuan and Caixiang were added. In June 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, belonging to mingkou, Liufang and daicun townships. In June 1957, it belonged to Zhongbu district. Mingkou commune was established in October 1958. In July 1961, it belonged to mingkou district and divided into mingkou, daicun and Liufang communes. At the end of 1963, Liufang commune was divided into Zhongbu District, mingkou commune and daicun commune into shiligang reclamation farm. In October 1968, it became mingkou commune. In 1979, the whole society was reorganized into 14 brigades. On August 25, 1982, the Caijia, Gangkou and Nan'an brigades were renamed Zhuwu, wuyiqiao and shangnan'an brigades. Mingkou township was reestablished in 1984. In June 1997, the township was removed and the town was built. It covers an area of 111.4 square kilometers and has a population of 23000. It governs 12 administrative villages, namely daicun, wuyiqiao, shangnan'an, mingkou, xujiawan, Zhuwu, Shangsi, lankeng, Liuyi, liuer, LiuSan and liusi.
