Historical evolution

In the second year of the Song Dynasty (996), Shanghang County was located in Bisha village, Baisha Town.

In 1950, the white sand area was set up.

In 1958, it was changed into Baisha commune.

In 1984, it was changed to Baisha Township.

In 1993, Baisha Town was built.

History and culture

Hakka culture

In order to avoid the war disaster of song and Jin Dynasties, the ancestor of Hakka surname Zhang moved from Geteng village, Shibi Township, Ninghua county to Xihuang village, Baisha Town in jiataixi period of Southern Song Dynasty. He died in 1267 in the third year of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty. He was buried in dapinggang, the back of Liwu in Xihuang village, in the shape of a "golden plate carrying beads". Zhang Huasun has 18 children and 108 descendants. His descendants have spread to 38 generations and more than 10 million people. His descendants are scattered in Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shandong, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and all over the world. In the spring and autumn of every year, Sun Fu of all ethnic groups is the source of drinking water, and the ritual is repeated to offer sacrifices to his ancestors.

Puppet culture

Baisha Town puppet opera originated from "Chen Ping as a puppet to perform, Han Gao to solve the siege of Baideng". In the early Ming Dynasty (1397), it was introduced into shuizhuyang, Dajin village, Baisha Town, Shanghang from Zhejiang, and then gradually extended to Hakka, southern Jiangxi, eastern Guangdong, Taiwan and other places. Baisha Town is recognized as the birthplace of Hakka puppet show. In 2008, it was named "the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art" (Hakka puppet opera) by the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China, and "Baisha puppet opera field association" passed the provincial expert evaluation in the list of provincial and national intangible cultural heritage projects.

Red Culture

Baisha Town was a famous red Soviet Area during the second Civil Revolutionary War. In June and July of 1929, the "Zaokang meeting" of the Fourth Red Army was held twice in the Yan Clan ancestral hall of Zaokang. In November 1997, the historical witness, old general shocker, wrote an inscription "the site of Zaokang meeting".

During the revolutionary war, there were 2680 outstanding sons and daughters of Baisha devoted themselves to the revolution, and 860 of them gave their precious lives to the birth of the Republic. After the baptism of blood and fire in the revolutionary war, a group of outstanding white sand children grew up to be the backbone of the Republic. General yuan Ziqin, former deputy director of the General Political Department of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, major general Ding ganru, former chief of staff of the Chengdu Military Region and consultant of the headquarters, and Major General Li Ping, former deputy director of the General Administration of civil aviation and Deputy Secretary of the Party committee, are outstanding representatives among them.
