Yanxi town

Yanxi Town, belonging to Changtai District, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is located in the middle of Changtai District, south of Lianggang mountains. The terrain inclines from north to south. It is adjacent to Fangyang town in the East, Lianggang mountains and Banli Township in the west, Longjin River in the south, Yuanshan and Xihu villages in Chenxiang Town, and Anxi County in the north.

Yanxi town governs 2 communities (Shanggong neighborhood committee and Xiagong neighborhood committee), 3 town offices and 11 administrative villages, covering an area of 203.5 square kilometers. In 2017, there were 42937 permanent residents in Yanxi town.

Historical evolution

The town was a part of shimingli and YONGANLI (later changed to yongfuli and shixiaoli) under the jurisdiction of Kangle Township in Song Dynasty. There was no change in yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

In 1933 (22 years of the Republic of China), it belongs to the second district.

In 1943 (32 years of the Republic of China), Yanxi township was abolished.

In 1949, it was the third district of Changtai County.

In 1954, Banli was designated as the Fifth District.

In 1955, it was renamed Yanxi district after its place name.

In 1958, the red flag people's commune was established.

In 1959, it was changed into Yanxi people's commune.

In August 1984, it was renamed Yanxi town.

Yanxi town is located in the middle of Changtai District, between 117 ° 40 ′ 25 ″ - 117 ° 49 ′ 54 ″ E and 24 ° 41 ′ 31 ″ - 24 ° 52 ′ 53 ″ n. It is located in the middle of Changtai County, adjacent to Fangyang town in the East, Lianggang mountains in the West and Banli Township in the west, Longjin River in the south, Yuanshan and Xihu in Chenxiang town across the river, and Anxi County in the north.

Yanxi town covers an area of 203.5 square kilometers. Yanxiwei (Jinlin Village) is the residence of the town government, which is 15km away from the county, 36km away from Zhangzhou and 60km away from Xiamen.

The territory is rich in rice, sugarcane, citrus, fast-growing forest and so on, among which the specialty citrus is popular at home and abroad.

Longjin River in Yanxi town is a mountainous river. Its main streams are arranged in parallel and flow into Beixi river of Jiulong River from northeast to southwest. It has short flow, large drop, rapid flow, abundant water and obvious seasonal variation. The river valley is in beaded shape, rich in water energy and easy to develop.
