Shijie Town, a town subordinate to Guangde City, is also known as Shijie ferry because it is a famous important ferry in ancient times. It is called "Shijie Town" for short. Shijie Town is located at the junction of Xuan, Lang and Guang, 20 kilometers away from Guangde city and 200 kilometers away from Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, which is close to the "Yangtze River Delta". After the adjustment of administrative divisions, Shijie Town is composed of the original five towns.

Historical evolution

Swearing Festival ferry was set up in Tang Dynasty. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, many wooden bridges were erected at shijiedu, which were destroyed by floods.

In 1932, when the Xuancheng Changxing motorway was built, a simple highway ferry was set up at the ancient ferry to carry cars and travel on rafts.

In 1933, a wooden bridge was built to pass cars. The bridge, with 16 holes, is 96 meters long and has a load limit of 5 tons.

In 1937, the wooden bridge was built and opened to traffic. After the Japanese invasion of China in 1938, the Kuomintang government burned down the bridge to resist the Japanese aggressors. There are still nine wooden piers on the bridge, which can be used as a historical witness.

Here is China's first rocket launch base. On July 19, 1964, China's first biological rocket with mice inside was successfully launched here, which not only took an important step in China's space exploration, but also laid a foundation for the success of China's manned space industry to build a "bridge" for human space exploration.

This is the birthplace of the famous "Guangde peasant uprising" in March 1930 under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The ancestral hall where martyrs Wang Jinlin and Deng Guoan lived and studied the uprising is still intact. Reading the thick and heavy "red courage loyal soul -- Xu Daozhen and his comrades in arms", we can understand the historical "bridge" across time and space, and feel that today's happy life is hard won.
