Sun Gang Township

Sungang township is a part of Yeji District of Lu'an City in Anhui Province, originally belonging to Huoqiu County of Lu'an City. It is located at the northern foot of Dabie Mountain, in the hilly area of the north side of the plain where Shihe River impacts. It is adjacent to the main trunk of Pishi River in the East, Dabie Mountain in the south, Jianghuai plain in the north and Henan Province in the West. It is an important place for the Central Plains to enter the East and leave the west, and a gateway to the Dabie Mountains. Sungang originally had 24 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. In 2014, it was divided into 15 administrative villages. 241 villager groups, is the largest overseas Pine Town in Anhui Province, known as the green screen of West Anhui.

On December 3, 2015, the State Council (guohan No. 206) approved to put Sungang Township in Huoqiu County under the jurisdiction of Yeji District of Lu'an City.

In 2017, the administrative area of Sungang township was 12800 hectares, with a permanent resident population of 42256.

Evolution of organizational system

On December 4, 1998, Anhui provincial Party committee and provincial government approved the establishment of Yeji reform and development pilot zone, which exercised county-level management authority and was directly under the leadership of Lu'an Prefecture Party committee and administrative office at that time. Its jurisdiction was extended to Sungang and Sanyuan townships. on October 13, 2015, the State Council (Guo Han No. 181) approved the establishment of Yeji District in Lu'an City, which put Yeji Town, Sanyuan town and Sungang Township in Huoqiu County under the jurisdiction of Yeji district. The administrative areas of Yeji Town, Sanyuan town and Sungang township are the administrative areas of Yeji District, and the people's Government of Yeji district is located at No. 88 Huayuan Road, Yeji town.

Major General Wang kuixian, the former deputy commander of Guangxi military region, Li Guang, the former deputy political commissar of the PLA's infrastructure engineering corps, and vice minister of the Ministry of Railways all went out from this red land.
