Pingli town

Pingli town is located in the southwest of Qimen County, adjacent to Tafang Township in the northeast, Qihong Township in the southeast, Luxi Township in the southwest, rongkou Township in the West and Xiaoxikou town in the north. It is 12 kilometers long from east to west and 13.9 kilometers wide from north to south, covering a total area of 93.6 square kilometers. The territory has a mild climate and abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature is 15.2 degrees, the annual precipitation is 2120 mm, and the frost free period is about 270 days.

Pingli town is the hometown of Hu Yuanlong, the originator of Qimen black tea. In the first year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Hu Yuanlong, a villager of Guixi village, continued to explore and improve the tea making technology, and created Qimen black tea, which looks like flower, fruit and honey. It is known as "Qihong is unique, the most fragrant, and the most fragrant in Qing Dynasty".

Historical evolution

Pingli town is an important market town in South Road of Qimen County with a long history. In the Song Dynasty, it belonged to youchangshangli, Wushan township; in the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to the twelve capitals of Wushan Township, which were set up in the same Yuan Dynasty in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1932, it belonged to three districts; in 1939, it belonged to Hongli Township, two districts; in 1947, Hongli Township governed Pingli, Chengshi, Shuangfeng and Guixi, and Huaqiao belonged to Rongxi township. At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to the fourth district. In October 1952, it belonged to Qihong (DA) people's commune, which was called Pingli administrative district. Pingli commune was established in October 1961. In April 1982, the township was established by the society, known as Pingli township. It was renamed Pingli town in 1989.

Pingli town governs Pingli, Huaqiao, Shuangcheng, Guixi four administrative villages, 47 villager groups. The total population is 7420 (2020), and the current level of urbanization is 40%. The town people's government is located in Pingli, 20 kilometers away from the county. (on July 1, 2014, Pingli Town: Guixi village and Xinyuan village were merged to establish Guixi village; Pingli village, Shuangfeng Village and Shengfeng village were merged to establish Pingli village.)

Forest tea is rich in resources. By the end of 2008, the forestry land of the town was 126400 mu, accounting for 90.8% of the total area, with 337000 cubic meters of standing trees and 84.3% of the forest coverage. There are 13 forest farms. At the beginning of Guangxu, Hu Yunlong of Guixi Village (Hongguang Village) studied Ninghong tea making method and became one of the founders of Qihong tea making. The annual output of dry tea is about 200 tons. Among them, the famous green tea Huangshan Maofeng and Huangshan Cuilan are more than 60 tons.

By the end of August 2013, seven administrative villages in Pingli town of Qimen County had completed the financial award and subsidy projects, two months ahead of 2012. Honor of Township

Pingli town has a strong sense of science and education. In April 1984, Shuangcheng village established the first night school of popular science for farmers in Qimen County. In 1988, the agricultural science and Education Association of Pingli township was established, which took the lead in finding a good way of "combining agricultural science and education under the overall planning of the government" in the whole province. In 1996, it won the first prize of the combination of agricultural science and education. In 1999, Pingli town was listed as Huangshan central town and comprehensive reform pilot town. Huaqiao village committee was awarded "national model village committee". In 2000, Pingli town won the title of "national demonstration town of combination of agriculture, science and education", and Huaqiao village won the title of "national demonstration village of combination of agriculture, science and education". With the deepening of the integration of agriculture, science and education, a number of large science and technology demonstration households such as Wu Yonghe and Zhang kebing have emerged, and a number of science and technology demonstration parks (bases) have been built, such as chacuntan greenhouse vegetables, Huaqiao black goat, Hongguang Turkey and Xianyu early tea garden. In 2001, they won the first prize in the assessment of Revitalizing Villages and towns through science and education.

In January 2018, Pingli town became the only characteristic town named after "tea" in Huangshan City.

In September 2018, it was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns.

On December 10, 2019, Qimen Qihong town was selected as a provincial characteristic town in Anhui Province,

In June 2020, it was awarded the title of "the fifth civilized village in Anhui Province".
