Xiazhi town

The shore of Xiazhi island is curved and looks like a shrimp. It swims on the sea, so it is named Xiazhi. It is located in the south of Zhoushan Archipelago, with a town built on the island, facing the vast east China Sea, and facing Putuo Mountain, the Buddhist kingdom of Haitian, and the tourist resorts Zhujiajian and Taohua island across the sea. It is about 21 kilometers away from the famous fishing capital Shenjiamen, with pleasant climate, small annual humidity difference and sufficient light. With a land area of 22.9 square kilometers and a total population of 13541 people (in 2017), it governs 19 administrative villages, and is a comprehensive and emerging fishing town with a focus on fishing and the development of fishery industry and trade.

administrative division

DAAO, the seat of Xiashi town government, is the political, economic and cultural center of the town. Xiazhi island was recorded in the atlas of changguozhou by Dade of Yuan Dynasty. In the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Xiazhi district was set up on the island. In the reign of emperor Xuantong, it was renamed Linghe township. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, it was renamed Xiazhi township. In May 1950, the people's Government of Xiashi township was set up under the jurisdiction of Dinghai county. Putuo county was under the jurisdiction of Putuo County after its establishment in 1953. In 1987, Putuo county was divided into districts. In August of that year, Xiazhi island was built as a town. In 2001, the original HUNI township was merged into Xiazhi town.

Xiazhi town is located in the south of Zhoushan Archipelago (29 ° 44'36 n, 122 ° 15'53 E), about 21.5 km away from Shenjiamen in the north. It is 2.2km away from Taohua by Xiashimen international waterway in the northeast, and 5.7KM away from Liuheng by xiaobeigang and tiaozuman waterway in the southwest. The southeast sea area is Yangan fishing ground, and the northwest is Qitou ocean. Jiao'ao mountain, the highest point, is 207 meters above sea level, with a coastline of 57.02 kilometers long. The island is northwest southeast trending, long and narrow, and looks like a prawn floating on the sea. The coastline is zigzag, bay and Cape alternate, the Bay entrance is narrow, deep and wedge-shaped, which is a good port anchorage.

Fisheries

Fishery is the main basic industry of Xiashi town. There are 834 fishing boats and auxiliary fishing boats in the town, including 408 steel fishing boats. Since the establishment of ocean service agency in April 1988, there are 62 squid fishing fleets in the North Pacific Ocean and the southwest Atlantic Ocean in the town. In 2001, it was named "the hometown of squid" by Zhejiang Provincial Oceanic and Fishery Bureau. The aquatic products processing industry has formed a processing system of freezing, refrigeration, fish meal and various small packaging aquatic products. The capacity of freezing and refrigeration reaches 3500 tons, and the area of mariculture is 1462 mu. Xiashi has 32 collective and private enterprises in ship building, building materials, marine electronics, fishing machinery, etc., with an annual output value of over 100 million yuan. there are 208 transport, refrigeration, chilled and sand dredgers in the tertiary industry, with a total investment of more than 800 million yuan. Xiashi harbor is excellent, with a total coastline of about 55.8 km. The water depth of the harbor is flat. The national key fishing port is under investigation and design. Xiazhimen international deep water channel can be used for navigation of 200000 ton ships. Tourism development is in the start-up stage, with complete power supply, roads, communications, television, medical and health facilities, school education reaching a certain level, and a high standard seawall with a total length of 3.3 km has been completed. Xiashi town is a comprehensive and new important fishing town, which mainly focuses on fishing and combines fishing, industry and trade. The land area of the town is 22.9 square kilometers, with 17 administrative villages and a total population of 13541 (2017). In 2004, the total social output value of the town was 954 million yuan, an increase of 8.60%. The total industrial output value was 230 million yuan, an increase of 15.86%; the total fishery output value was 482 million yuan, a decrease of 0.07%; the total fishery output value was 115300 tons, a decrease of 5.61%. The per capita income was 7110 yuan, an increase of 5.04%. The fiscal revenue is 8.1292 million yuan. The main target of economic development regulation in 2005 is: the total social output value will exceed 1 billion yuan, of which the total fishery output value will be 452 million yuan, a decrease of 6.22%; the total industrial output value will be 235 million yuan, an increase of 2.17%; and the output value of marine industry will be 272 million yuan, an increase of 29.52%. The per capita income was 7466 yuan, an increase of 5.01%, and the fiscal revenue was basically the same as that in 2004. In 2008, the total output value of fishery in the town was 557 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.65%. The total output decreased slightly compared with that in 2007, but the growth of total output value was good, mainly due to the rise of squid price in pelagic fishery; while the domestic fishery ensured the stable effect of production reduction by vigorously developing low consumption and efficient operation methods such as light purse seine. In 2008, the government subsidized 57.7 million yuan for diesel oil, including 22.25 million yuan for ocean fishing and 35.45 million yuan for domestic fishing. Xiashi town is an important fishing area in Zhoushan. It is known as "Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province, Putuo in Zhoushan and Xiashi in Putuo". There are 558 fishing boats and auxiliary fishing boats in quanxiashi Town, including 303 fishing boats above 120 horsepower, 131 fishing boats below 80 horsepower, 72 fishing boats (chilled) and 52 ocean going boats (1 in South Pacific, 47 in North Pacific and 4 in North Korean squid tow). In 2001, it was named "the hometown of squid" by Zhejiang Provincial Oceanic and Fishery Bureau, and became the largest and fastest developing mass pelagic fishery base in China's coastal areas.

Shipping industry

The newly developed maritime transport industry is another pillar industry of Xiazhi economy. With the development of maritime transport industry, the first township level maritime chamber of Commerce and Maritime Service Center has been established. At the end of March 2005, the town had 333 oil and freight transport vessels, with a total capacity of nearly 139700 tons. From January to March 2005, the output value was 55.7 million yuan. In the future, shrimp fishermen will develop in the direction of open sea, large tonnage and special ships. There are 28 Enterprises (including 4 collective enterprises) in Xiashi Town, and the industrial distribution is ship building, aquatic products processing, ice making, mechanical processing, etc. the industrial output value of the town from January to March 2005 is 12.68 million yuan. The industry of Xiashi town makes use of the rich marine biological resources, supports the intensive processing of aquatic products and family industry, encourages fishermen to develop international direct selling ships, and develops squid processing and marketing industry.
