Baimu Township

Baimu township is located in the west of Wuyi County, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, bordering Wangzhai town in the East, Yuyuan Township and Taoxi town in the south, Jinhua County in the West and taoxitan Township in the north. The Township People's government is located in Baimu, 19 kilometers away from the county. The territory is rich in hydropower and mineral resources, especially the well-known Naoshi mine. Houshunao mine is a super large mine in the province, with a reserve of 8 million tons. In recent years, large-scale Maifanshi deposit has been discovered, with a reserve of more than 18 million tons. The Yuankou reservoir is rich in water resources, with a total capacity of 28.8 million square meters and a normal capacity of 22 million square meters. It irrigates 74000 mu of grain fields in the county through three main canals in the south, North and middle, and the drinking water of the county is also introduced from here.

On July 24, 2019, Baimu township was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.

Historical evolution

It is said that Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty, was in danger here. She blocked the river before and chased after him. At the time of crisis, Baiyun Niangniang and her two maids threw ribbons to huahongqiao to save Liu Xiu from crossing the river and took refuge in Liu xiulong. Liu Xiu ascended the throne. In order to repay his kindness, he built baishuiling palace and granted Baiyun empress the title of holy woman. The place where she escaped from danger was named "bailuopo" (now at the source of the mouth). Since the Southern Song Dynasty, the ancestors of Xu, Gu and Zhou have come to settle down here one after another. The place name is "mulinli" (meaning adjacent to bailuopo's holy lady). After entering the Ming Dynasty, merchants gathered here and became more and more prosperous. Later generations named Bai Di after Bai Luopo and Mu Lin. in 1985, the township nursing home was built. In 1993, Qingtong building, a teaching building of Baimu primary school funded by Mr. Shen Binglin and raised by 11 administrative villages, was completed. From 1994 to 1998, program-controlled telephones were opened in 27 administrative villages. From 1993 to 1995, the Baimu river was thoroughly renovated. In 1995, four CATV receiving stations were set up in Baimu, Mayang, wutuofan and Dongchu, enabling 70% of the rural households to watch eight channels of TV programs. In 1997, Baimu commercial street was built; since 1995, more than 4000 mu of Zizania latifolia base has been developed, houshu tea base has been developed, 27 tea processing plants have been set up, and 17 tea houses have been set up in Shanghai, Guangdong, Hebei, Dalian and other places. In 1998, Baimu junior high school teaching building was completed, Wangzhai Baimu asphalt pavement reconstruction project was completed, and in August, the development of dahongyan scenic area was officially launched.

Dahongyan, 20km away from the county seat, is located in the center of liuxiulong scenic spot, a provincial scenic spot known as "Shili Gallery". It is named after the appearance of a red gravel sedimentary giant rock with a height of more than 300 meters and a width of more than 650 meters. It is said that Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of Han Dynasty, once took refuge nearby. It is an excellent place to enjoy the pastoral scenery and experience the natural life.

In 1994, the bullfight festival was held on the sixth day of October every year with more than 10000 visitors. Shengfu temple is a temple built to commemorate the Shengfu who saved Liu Xiu from the disaster. The local people call it Shengfu Niangniang Temple. Every year, on August 16 of the lunar calendar, the Shengfu Niangniang's birthday is celebrated. The villagers sing on the stage and walk on the street in red sedan chairs. Unmarried or married men and women without children pray for marriage and early birth.

Local specialties

The soil, water quality and climate in the downstream of the reservoir are very suitable for Zizania latifolia planting. The produced Zizania latifolia is delicious and of good quality, which is very popular with consumers. In 1998, Zizania latifolia was sold to Changzhou, Wuxi, Guangzhou, Nanchang, Wuhan, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and other large and medium-sized cities.
