Mayu town

Mayu town belongs to Ruian City, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located on the South Bank of the middle section of the lower reaches of the Feiyun River, with a population of 131096 (in 2017), 17 kilometers southwest of the city. In the west of the town, there are two mountains, turtle and snake, collectively known as Mayu mountain, so it is named Mayu town. It is adjacent to Huling town in the northeast, Taoshan town in the north, Xianjiang town in the East, Pingyang County in the south, pingyangkeng town and Gaolou town in the west, and Meiyu Township in the boundary. Geography

Mayu town is located in the Southwest Center of Ruian City. It connects Wencheng Taishun in the west, Pingyang Fujian in the south, and Feiyun River in the north. It is known as the "thoroughfare of five counties in southern Zhejiang". It is the intersection of national highway 104 and provincial highway 56. It connects Ruian City in the East, Wencheng County and Taishun County in the west, Pingyang County and Fuding County in Fujian in the south, and Feiyun River in the north. It is only 40 kilometers away from Wenzhou airport, with unique geographical location and convenient water and land transportation, so it is known as the "thoroughfare of five counties in southern Zhejiang".

After the township division adjustment, the town covers an area of 153.65 square kilometers (2017), with 58 administrative villages and 3 residential areas under its jurisdiction, with a total of 131096 people (2017). In 2001, the total output value of industry and agriculture accounted for 28.4% of the total income of rural economy. It was determined as the regional sub center of Ruian City by the people's Government of Ruian City.

The terrain of Mayu town is long and narrow from east to west. The mountain range belongs to the eastern part of nanyandang mountain system. The elevation of shanganshan (Yongfeng mountain) in the west is 264.8 meters, and the underlying vein inclines to Mayu mountain in the northeast. The elevation of Shangdong mountain is 274.1 meters, which is bounded by gaotunshan in the South and tuanyu mountain in the north through Wujia. The central part is a valley plain with flat terrain and interwoven rivers. With convenient transportation, 56 provincial roads pass through the territory from east to west, Ma and Cao highways pass through Pingyang County in the south, MA (Yu) and Tao (Shan) highways pass through Wenzhou City in the north, which is the diversion line of national highway 104; Feiyun River in the north goes up to Gaolou, cuokou, Shanxi and Tongbu, reaches Ruian port, and passenger and cargo wharf is set up at Mayu ferry, which is the water and land transportation hub in the central and western part of Ruian City.

Historical evolution

Jiajing of Ming Dynasty belonged to 42nd and 43rd capitals of Anren township. In 1930, it belonged to Lai'an district. In 20 years, it was called Mayu township. In 24 years, it belonged to Lai'an and Yanhou townships. In 35 years, it belonged to Mayu town and Jinpu township. Mayu town was called Mayu town in 1949 and divided into Mayu town and Mayu Township in 1952. In 1956, Fengming, huangshe and Mayu townships were merged into Mayu town. On December 25, 2015, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of some administrative divisions. Old Mayu town

Located in the south of Ruian City, the middle reaches of Feiyun River.
