Haidian District is located in the southeast of Beijing, 7 kilometers away from the district government. To the east of Sanlihe, it is adjacent to Xicheng District; to the west of the Third Ring Road, it is adjacent to Balizhuang street and Yangfangdian street; to the south of Bayi lake, it is adjacent to Yangfangdian street; to the north of Xizhimenwai street, it is adjacent to Beixiaguan street, Zizhuyuan street and Balizhuang street.

Historical evolution

In 1949, Mashen township was built. In April 1957, Mashen street was changed. In 1958, it was merged with Yuyuantan commune and named Yuyuantan street. In April 1963, Ganjiakou street was re established.

In 1996, it covers an area of 7.2 square kilometers, with a permanent resident population of 91000 and a floating population of 16000.
