Mulberry town belongs to Shuyang County, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, located in the north of Shuyang County, bordering Lianyungang Donghai County. The center coordinates (118.83 East, 34.32 North) are 25 km from the county seat, 54 square kilometers in the town area, 3 communities and 10 administrative villages under the jurisdiction, with 56 thousand and 400 registered residence population (2017).

Sangxu was called "poor mulberry" in ancient times. SHAOHAO, one of the five emperors, was born here 4400 years ago. Sangxu is a big hill on the east coast. SHAOHAO advised us to farm mulberry and plant mulberry trees everywhere, so sangxu got its name.

Sangxu town has a long history and simple customs. As early as the Northern Song Dynasty, the peasant uprising Army Song Jiang led the rebel army to fight here. During the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, sangxupu was set up and went to the northeast through it. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the passenger ships transported by water to Haizhou city used sangxu as a post station, passing by boats and cars, and merchants gathered. In the early years of the Republic of China, Tianqi temple and Dahong bridge were built in the south of today's sangxu. In ancient times, there was sangxu lake, which was connected with Qingyi lake and Shuoxiang lake. It was convenient for water transportation. Literati and scholars often went boating and wrote poems here. It was gradually blocked and annihilated in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. In the 29th year of the Republic of China, it was included in the Anti Japanese democratic government of Donghai County and returned to Shuyang in May 1949. In the 1940s, revolutionaries of the older generation, such as Liu Shaoqi, Chen Yi, Zhang Aiping and Li Yimeng, fought here and forged strong friendship with the local people. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, sangxu District of Shuyang County was established. In 1957, the district was removed and the township was merged. In September 1958, sangxu people's commune was established. It was rated as the national "advanced unit of agricultural socialist construction" and was awarded by the State Council of the people's Republic of China. In April 1983, it was renamed sangxu Township, and in October 1999, it was removed and built into a town.

In the late 1990s, sangxu town started the wood processing industry in the surrounding areas. Sangxu has a long history of seedling cultivation. As early as the founding of the people's Republic of China, there were nurseries, grafting propagation, pruning and shaping, pest control and other cultivation techniques. Sangxu nine-year school is a nine-year compulsory education school formed by the merger of sangxu junior high school and sangxu Central Primary School. There are 93 classes with a total of 5300 students, including 72 classes in primary school and 21 classes in secondary school.
