As an important part of Zhenjiang high tech Zone, the new Jiangqiao street was re established in June 2017, with an administrative area of 34.63 square kilometers. It is located in the core of Nanxu new town, with Jiuhuashan road in the East, high-tech junction in the west, shilichang mountain in the South and Yangtze River in the North. It has jurisdiction over five administrative villages, namely Zhangshan, nianyutao, Daqiao, Longmen and wuzhoushan, four agricultural communities, namely Qili, Yanzhuang, jiangjiamen and qiaojiamen, and four urban communities, namely Fenghuang homeland, Jiuhua villa, Furun Huating and sifengdu, with a permanent resident population of about 36000.

Evolution of organizational system

In February 2006, nianyutao village, Daqiao village and Longmen Village were included in Runzhou Industrial Park. At the beginning of December 2006, sibudu community was put under Qilidian sub district office. At the end of December 2006, wufengkou community, Tanshan community and Huilong District of guantangqiao village were under the jurisdiction of Nanshan Scenic Area Management Committee of Zhenjiang city.

On August 18, 2011, the unveiling ceremony of Jiangqiao street in Runzhou District of Zhenjiang city was solemnly held, and the new Jiangqiao street was officially established. The newly established Jiangqiao street has an administrative area of 24.4 square kilometers and a population of 21000. It has jurisdiction over a natural village in Zhangshan, four agricultural communities in Qili, Yanzhuang, jiangjiamen and qiaojiamen, and one urban community in fenghuangjiayuan.

In June 2017, six villages and communities in Qilidian street of Runzhou district were assigned to Jiangqiao street, and the adjusted system of Jiangqiao street was entrusted to Zhenjiang high tech Zone, with an area of 34.63 square kilometers and a population of 36000.

History and culture

Jiang Qiao is known as a "famous town" by Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge expert in China. It is said that Jiang Qiao was the hometown of the elder Zhang Qiao of the state of Wu in the Three Kingdoms period 2000 years ago. In Jiang Qiao, there has been a wonderful legend that "Er Qiao got married".
