Shangyu District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. Located in the east of Zhejiang Province, northeast of Shaoxing City, South Bank of Qiantang River. It is adjacent to Yuyao City of Ningbo City in the East, Shengzhou City in the south, Keqiao district and Yuecheng District in the west, Qiantang River in the north, Haining City and Haiyan County. The total land area of the region is 1401.68 square kilometers. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. The area of low mountains and hills in the South and the plain of water network in the north are half and half, showing a pattern of "five mountains, one water and four fields".
After the adjustment of administrative divisions in November 2019, the district has jurisdiction over 8 streets, 10 towns and 3 townships. By the end of 2018, the resident population was 797 thousand and 100, and the registered residence population was 780 thousand and 400. According to the preliminary accounting, the Shangyu area achieved 91 billion 652 million yuan in 2018, which increased by 7.4% at comparable prices. The per capita GDP of the registered residence population was 117380 yuan. The total revenue of the whole year was 14.125 billion yuan.
Shangyu district is a comprehensive new urban area with riverside characteristics and relatively perfect functions in the east of Shaoxing central city. It is a provincial regional transportation hub, Shaoxing business center and the new business capital of eastern Zhejiang. In the territory of highways, high-speed rail, railways, ports, canals and so on, Jiashao bridge makes Shaoxing into the Shanghai two-hour traffic circle.
In October 2019, it will become the 37th in the list of the top 100 comprehensive strength districts in China, the top 100 science and technology innovation districts in China in 2019, and the top 100 new urbanization quality districts in China in 2019. Historical evolution
Shangyu is one of the earliest counties in Zhejiang Province. Historical records and unearthed cultural relics prove that human beings lived here in the Neolithic age. Shangyu county is the fiefdom of the descendants of Yushun. In the later period of patriarchal clan society, Yushun came here to avoid the chaos of Danzhu.
According to Guo Moruo's textual research, Shang Yu has been named in Shang oracle bone inscriptions. After the Xia emperor Shaokang, it belonged to the state of Yue.
In the Warring States period, after Chu destroyed Yue, it belonged to Chu.
In the 25th year of Yingzheng (222 BC), the king of Qin set up Shangyu County, which belongs to Kuaiji county.
In the first year of the founding of the people's Republic of China (AD 9), the new king mang abolished Shangyu and entered Kuaiji county.
At the beginning of Jianwu (25-56 A.D.) in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Shangyu county was restored, belonging to Kuaiji county.
In the fourth year of Yongjian (129 A.D.), it was divided into shangyunan Township and shining county. It belonged to Kuaiji county and remained unchanged in the Three Kingdoms, Jin Dynasty and southern and Northern Dynasties.
In the ninth year of kaihuang (589 AD), Shangyu was abolished and shining was incorporated into Kuaiji County, which successively belonged to Wuzhou, Yuezhou and Kuaiji counties. In the early Tang Dynasty, Shangyu was still a part of Kuaiji County, belonging to Yuezhou.
In the fourth year of Wude (A.D. 621), Shengzhou was the place of Shanxian and Gushining. In the eighth year, Shengzhou was abolished.
Tianbao, Zhide years (AD 742-758), is the Kuaiji county.
After the first year of Qianyuan (758 AD), it still belonged to Yuezhou.
In the first year of Zhenyuan (785 AD), the branch of Jizhi restored Shangyu.
In the first year of Changqing (821 AD), it was incorporated into Yuyao and restored to Yuezhou in the next year.
In the Five Dynasties, it belonged to the eastern government of Wuyue state.
The Northern Song Dynasty still belonged to Yuezhou. In the first year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1131 AD), Yuezhou was changed into Shaoxing Prefecture.
In 1276 ad, Shaoxing Prefecture was changed to Shaoxing Road, and in 1366 ad, Shaoxing Prefecture was restored. Shangyu was a county. The Qing Dynasty inherited the Ming system.
In the early years of the Republic of China, the government system was changed to Dao system, and Shangyu belonged to Kuaiji Dao.
In the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927 AD), the system of Daoism was abolished and directly belonged to the province.
In the 21st year of the Republic of China, it was the seventh administrative supervision district of Zhejiang Province.
In the 24th year of the Republic of China, it was the third administrative supervision district.
In the 37th year of the Republic of China, it was the second administrative supervision district.
At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to Shaoxing special area.
Since February 1952, it belongs to Ningbo special zone.
In 1954, Shangyu local government was transferred from Fenghui to Baiguan. In autumn, the five townships of Sifeng, Yupu, Tangxia, Sicun and Shengjiang in Dongguan district and Tangpu District of Shaoxing County, and the four townships of Changdong, Baoshan, Changtang and Huihu in Fusheng district are included in Shangyu.
In November 1956, Yongxing township of Fenghui District, Wangjiazhuang and dalingding village of Xiaguan District were assigned to Yuyao County, and Chuanxia village of Shaoxing County to Tangpu.
In August 1960 and January 1966, Dashan Village, Yindi village, Heilongtan village, Xuanyan village and Xishan village, as well as Daiwang village and Mijia village in Chenxi commune, were assigned to Yuyao county.
Since September 1964, it belongs to Shaoxing district.
In June 1968, it belonged to Shaoxing area.
It has been in Shaoxing since August 1983.
On October 18, 1992, Shangyu was set up as a city instead of a county.
In October 2013, Shangyu City at the county level was abolished and Shangyu District of Shaoxing City was established, with the former administrative region of Shangyu City as the administrative region of Shangyu district.

Shangyu district is high in the South and low in the north. The low mountains and hills in the South belong to two branches. The southeast part is the remnant vein of Siming Mountain, which is relatively high and steep. The altitude of Fuzhe mountain is 861.3 meters, which is the highest point in the region. The southwest part is the remnant vein of Kuaiji mountain, which is slightly gentle, and the altitude of Luocun mountain is 390.7 meters. The northern water network plain belongs to the scope of Ningshao plain, with a low and flat terrain, and an average altitude of about 5 meters. The northernmost part is the coastal high plain, with an average altitude of about 10 meters.

Cao'e River, the fourth largest river in Zhejiang Province, runs through the whole territory from south to north. Its main tributaries are Xiaoshun River, Xiaguan River and Yintan river. The main artificial rivers are Xiaocao canal, Yuyong canal, Shili River, Shibali River, Baili River and Haitu Central River. The average annual inflow is about 2.795 billion cubic meters, which is 3.33 times of the total water resources in the whole region. The main lakes are Xiaoyue lake, Pogang lake, Baima Lake, chanhuan lake, zaoli lake, Xixi lake, xiexihu lake, Kangjia lake, hejiachi Lake (part of the water surface belongs to Keqiao District), etc.

Shangyu is located in the southern edge of the north subtropical zone, which belongs to the East Asian monsoon climate with significant monsoon, mild climate, four distinct seasons, humid and rainy. Because of the complex terrain, obvious regional differences in light, temperature and water, and more disastrous weather, the general trend is that flood is more than drought. The annual average temperature is 16.4 ℃, the frost free period is about 251 days, and the annual rainfall is about 1400mm.
