Historical evolution

In the fifth year of Jiaqing (1800), the Qing government set up Changchun hall, which is located in the north of Xinlicheng Reservoir. There are four townships under the hall, among which Fu'an township (now Wanjin township of Dehui county) is located in the east of Yitong River and the west of wukai river. Today erdaohezi district is subordinate to toujia and Erjia. In the second year of Xuantong (1910), toujia and Erjia of Fu'an Township were changed into anding and Anren townships respectively (their governing offices were in Xinlicheng and chanzigou respectively), and Erdao District belonged to these two townships.

In 1911, the three townships of Anding, andao and Anhuai were merged into Yongqing town (now Changchun east railway station), and the two districts were under the jurisdiction of Yongqing town and Anren township.

In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Yongqing Town, De'an town and Anren Township were merged into a Township District (which is located in Kalun street of today's Jiutai District), and Erdao District belongs to this district.

In 1929, the first district of the township was divided into the first district (which is still located in Kalun street of today's Jiutai District) and the second district (which is located in today's barnyard ditch). Erdao District basically belongs to the Second District, with only a small number of villages in the first district.

In 1932, the puppet state of Manchuria was established, and its capital was Changchun (later changed to Xinjing). In 1937, "Xinjing special city" was divided into 18 districts, including Heshun District, Dongrong District, beihedong district and nanhedong district. In 1940, Beihe East District and Nanhe East District were abolished. In 1942, Beihe East District and Nanhe East District were restored.

In 1937, Shuangyang county and Changchun county were divided into 12 districts and 6 suburbs. Erdao District was under the jurisdiction of Heshun District, Dongrong District, beihedong district and nanhedong district.

In the 28th year of the Republic of China (1940), Beihe East District and Nanhe East District were abolished, and Heshun district and Dongrong district were expanded.

In 1942, beihedong district and nanhedong district were restored, and some of them were under their jurisdiction. So far, the area of Heshun district is 10.32 square kilometers, and that of Dongrong district is 8.52 square kilometers. In April 1946, the Northeast Democratic United Army liberated Changchun and established a municipal democratic government. Erdao District was under the jurisdiction of two democratic governments, Heshun and Dongrong.

On May 23, 1946, the Kuomintang troops occupied Changchun again, and the two districts were under the jurisdiction of Heshun, Dongrong, beihedong, and nanhedong until Changchun was liberated on October 19, 1948.

Changchun was liberated on October 19, 1948. The two districts of Heshun and Dongrong merged to form erdaohezi district. Erdaohezi used to be a tributary of Shuangyang River, flowing to the same direction as Yitong River. In history, people used to call Yitong River "toudao River", and the tributary of Shuangyang river was called "erdaohezi", so erdaohezi District got its name. The total area of the region is 74.9 square kilometers, of which the built-up area is 34 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over seven streets and one Township, with 135 residents' committees and 14 villagers' committees.

In 1994, seven administrative villages, including Hongxin village, Hongsheng village, Hongfeng village, Hongming village, Hongsheng village, Fuli village and Changqing village, or the whole village or part of the community, belonged to Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone.

In 1995, the administrative division of Changchun City was adjusted. Four townships, Quannong Town, Quanyan town and Sandao town in the suburb of Shuangyang county were included in the district. The total area of the district increased to 511.3 square kilometers. Erdaohezi district was renamed Erdao District.
