Shiguai District Shiguai district is a municipal district of Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Shiguai is a transliteration of Mongolian "Xi GUI Tu", which means "a place with forest". It is located in the northeast of Baotou city. Its geographical coordinates are 40 ° 37 ′ ~ 40 ° 45 ′ n; 110 ° 14 ′ ~ 110 ° 28 ′ e. it is adjacent to Jiuyuan District in the southwest, Donghe District in the South and Qingshan District in the West. It was rated as the first batch of National Smart City pilot areas.

With a total area of 761 square kilometers, Shiguai District governs one town, six streets and one Sumu, with a total population of 36000 (2010). In 2016, the GDP of Shiguai District reached 10.361 billion yuan, an increase of 7.5% over 2015.

Evolution of organizational system

Before Ming Dynasty, Shiguai area was a nomadic area of northern minorities. In the early Ming Dynasty, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty sent troops to the south of Yinshan Mountain. Today, the Han people in Shiguai area moved in and settled down.

In 1652, a part of Mongolians in Horqin grassland moved to Wudanggou, shuijiangou and halongguigou. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi, the Mongolian and Han mixed villages in today's Shiguai area formed and built castles (i.e. today's gehaitu village, ancient town tower village and old Shiguai Village). In 1749, shalinqin, 22 kilometers north of Shiguai village, was expanded into wudangzhao. To the east of Shiguai Zhenggou is wudangzhao's Shanzhao land; to the west of Zhenggou is the nomadic land of Wulate Donggong banner; to the west of Guoqing township is Wulate's territory, and to the East is Tumet's territory.

After 1949, it was the shiguaigou mining area of Ulanqab League. In 1956, it belonged to Baotou City and was set up as Shiguai mining area. On August 10, 1999, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved to change the name of Shiguai mining area to Shiguai district.

In 2012, Shiguai district has six streets, one town and one Sumu: Shiguai street, Dafa street, Daci street, Wudanggou street, baihugou street, dadeheng street, wudangzhao town and jihuluntu Sumu. The district government is located in dadeheng Street (xiguitu New District).

Location context

Shiguai district is located in the hinterland of Daqingshan Mountain in Yinshan Mountain range of Inner Mongolia, and in the center of hubao'e golden triangle. The geographical coordinates are 40 ° 37 ′ ~ 40 ° 45 ′ N and 110 ° 14 ′ ~ 110 ° 28 ′ e, covering a total area of 761 square kilometers. It is adjacent to Shaerqin town of Donghe District in the south, Guyang County in the north, erqinyao township of tumed Right Banner in the East, Baiyinxile street of Jiuyuan District and Xingsheng town of Qingshan District in the West. The rivers in Shiguai district are seasonal rivers, most of which are dry ditches. There is no water at ordinary times, and mountain torrents break out after heavy rain. The main rivers and ditches are: Shiguai West Ditch, wudangzhao ditch, houwudang ditch and Lijiagou. The floods of all rivers (Gullies) in Shiguai District flow into Wudanggou and flow out of Shaerqin to the South and into the Yellow River. The average annual flood discharge is 800 m3 / s, the maximum is 1200 m3 / s, the minimum is 500 m3 / s, and the extreme maximum is 2000 m3 / S (July 1958).
