Yicheng County is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, under the jurisdiction of Linfen City. Located between Zhongtiao and Taiyue mountains, the county borders Qinshui in the East, Quwo in the west, Fushan and Xiangfen in the north, Jiangxian and Yuanqu in the south. It is not only located at the junction of Linfen, Yuncheng and Jincheng, but also in the center of the "great triangle" of Qin, Jin and Henan, with Pingchuan, hilly and mountainous areas accounting for one third of the total. With a total area of 1170 square kilometers, the county governs 4 townships, 6 towns and 151 administrative villages, with a total population of 320000.

Yicheng is the hometown of Tang Yao and the source of Jin. It has a long history and profound culture. The county has 9 key cultural relics protection units (12 spots), 6 key cultural relics protection units (10 spots), 31 intangible cultural heritage protection projects above the municipal level, 1 famous Chinese historical and cultural Town, 3 famous Chinese historical and cultural villages and 15 traditional Chinese villages. There are two national 3A scenic spots, Yicheng ancient city and Foye mountain. Four years later, beihui Prefecture was abolished, and Jiangzhou was the county. Nine years later, Xiaoxiang county was abandoned into Yicheng County. In the second year of Tianyou (905), Huichuan county was changed, so it was ruled in Jiangzhou, 10 kilometers east of today's county.

In the first year of Changxing in the Five Dynasties (930), he moved to the present county.

Yicheng County was renamed in Song Dynasty.

The central and western part of Yicheng County is flat, and loess hills are widely distributed in the transition area between mountain and plain. Most areas are 500-1500 meters above sea level. The highest mountain in the southeast, Lishan shunwangping, at the junction of Yicheng, Yuanqu and Qinshui, is 2358 meters above sea level, and the lowest is 475.2 meters above sea level by the river in the southwest of Xiayang village. Mountains, hills and plains account for one third of the total area of Yicheng County, of which the mountainous and hilly areas cover an area of 836.3 square kilometers, accounting for 72.1% of the total area of Yicheng County. There are Cambrian, Ordovician, Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic strata in the mountain area.
