Lingqiu County, belonging to Datong City, Shanxi Province, is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province and the southeast corner of Datong City. Its geographical coordinates are 113 ° 53 ′～ 114 ° 33 ′ E and 39 ° 31 ′～ 39 ° 38 ′ n. Lingqiu has a temperate continental climate. Lingqiu County was set up in 196 B.C. in the eleventh year of emperor Gaozu of the Western Han Dynasty. It was named after the tomb of King Wuling of Zhao. It belongs to Daijun of Bingzhou. In July 1993, the city merged into Datong City. As of 2009, there are 3 national and provincial roads, 9 county roads, 43 township roads and 113 village roads in Lingqiu County. Lingqiu County has Pingxingguan battle site, Zhao Wuling King tomb, Jueshan temple and other tourist attractions. On April 18, 2019, the people's Government of Shanxi Province approved Lingqiu County to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties.

In 2018, the annual GDP of Lingqiu County reached 3.905 billion yuan (at current prices), an increase of 8.0% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 415 million yuan, up 3.8% year on year; the added value of the secondary industry was 1.447 billion yuan, up 8.8% year on year; the added value of the tertiary industry was 2.042 billion yuan, up 8.4% year on year. The proportion of the three industries in GDP is as follows: the primary industry accounts for 10.64%, the secondary industry accounts for 37.06%, and the tertiary industry accounts for 52.30%.

History of construction

Lingqiu County has a long history of human activities as early as the Neolithic age.

Lingqiu belonged to Yan in the Western Zhou Dynasty, Jin in the spring and Autumn period, and Yunzhong, Yanmen and Daijun in the Warring States period.

After Qin unified the six states, Lingqiu belonged to Daijun.

Lingqiu County was set up in 196 B.C. in the eleventh year of emperor Gaozu of the Western Han Dynasty. It was named after the tomb of King Wuling of Zhao. It belongs to Daijun of Bingzhou. In the early Eastern Han Dynasty, the county was abandoned to Youzhou Daijun, and Lingqiu was changed to Zhongshan state in Jizhou in 178. Xiandi Jian'an 18 years (213 years) Lingqiu is a new county (now Xinzhou).

Lingqiu belonged to the Zhongshan state of Jizhou in the Three Kingdoms period.

In the Western Jin Dynasty, Lingqiu County was abandoned as Youzhou Daijun.

In the Sixteen States, it belonged to Youzhou Daijun in the later Zhao Dynasty, because of the former Yan and the latter Yan.

In 386, Emperor Xiaowu of the Eastern Jin Dynasty established Lingqiu County (governing Lingqiu) in Wei Dynasty, which belongs to Sizhou (governing Pingcheng). Shaquan county is located in the west of the county. In 493, Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty changed Sizhou to Hengzhou, and Lingqiu County belonged to Hengzhou (zhipingcheng). In the second year of Tianping (535) of emperor Xiaojing of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, Lingqiu County was changed to beilingqiu county (governing Lingqiu, now ten li east of the county), leading Lingqiu and shaquan counties. Beilingqiu county (zhilingqiu county) in Northern Qi Dynasty belongs to Hengzhou. In the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Weizhou (governing Lingqiu) belonged to beilingqiu County, and shaquan county was incorporated into Lingqiu County, which governed Guangling. Dachang county is located in the south of the county. North Lingqiu County jurisdiction Lingqiu, Dachang, Guangchang (now Laiyuan County, Hebei Province).

In 583, Dachang county was merged into Lingqiu County, and Lingqiu County was abolished. In the third year of Daye (607), Emperor Yang abolished Weizhou and beilingqiu County, which belonged to Yanmen county.

In the sixth year of Wude (623), Lingqiu County and Yuzhou (still governing Lingqiu), Yangqu County, Fanchou County in the seventh year of Wude (624) and Xiurong County in the eighth year (625). Tang Taizong Zhenguan five years (651 years) also rule Lingqiu, Hedong road Yuzhou. In the first year of Tianbao of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (724), Weizhou moved to Binxian county (now Yuxian County, Hebei Province). In 757, Lingqiu belonged to Xingtang County (now Yuxian County, Hebei Province), and later to Yuzhou.

In the Five Dynasties, Lingqiu belonged to Weizhou in the later Jin Dynasty and the later Tang Dynasty.

In September 1937, Ge Xishan divided Shanxi into seven administrative regions. Lingqiu was the first administrative region (located in Wutai and ling17 counties).

In 1939, eight counties in the first administrative region were divided into the tenth administrative region, which is Lingqiu.

From 1942 to 1945, Lingqiu belonged to the first administrative region.

After the Japanese invaders occupied Datong area, the puppet northern Shanxi autonomous government was established in October 1937, which governed 13 counties of Yanbei. In September 1939, the puppet northern Shanxi autonomous government was renamed the northern Shanxi government. In 1943, the puppet government of northern Shanxi was renamed Datong provincial office.

During the Anti Japanese War, Lingqiu was one of the important Anti Japanese base areas, which belonged to Shanxi Chahar Hebei border area.

In the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937), the Japanese army occupied Lingqiu city on September 20. On October 23, the 115th division of the Eighth Route Army recovered Lingqiu City, established the Anti Japanese democratic government of Lingqiu County, and established the administrative committees of Lingqiu, Guangling, Yuxian, Laiyuan and Yixian counties (stationed in Shangzhai). In November, the CPC northeast Shanxi special committee was divided into one and two sub regional special committees, and Lingqiu was under the leadership of one special committee. In December, the Anti Japanese democratic government of Shangzhai county was established, with jurisdiction over Shangzhai, Xiaguan, Ranzhuang and Nancheng (now Nancheng township of Laiyuan County). The Anti Japanese democratic government of Lingqiu County governs four districts: Chengguan, Sanshan, donghe'nan and Zhaobei. Soon wangzhuangbao belongs to five districts in Lingqiu.

In January 1939, the five prefectural committees of the Communist Party of China (CPC) were established in xiazhainan. Lingqiu was under the leadership of the five prefectural committees instead of one prefectural committee. On September 22, the Yanbei Office of Chanan in Shanxi Chahar Hebei border area was established in Yanchi, belonging to Lingqiu.

In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), the Yanbei Office of Southern Chahar was abolished, and Lingqiu was the second special office of Shanxi Chahar Hebei border area.

In February of 1941, the second special office redrawn the county boundary. Lingqiu County is divided into six districts: longyuchi District, Yinchang District, Ranzhuang District, Shangzhai District, Xiaguan District and Zhaobai district.

In September 1944, four administrative offices were set up in the border area of Shanxi, Chahar, central Hebei and re Liao. Lingqiu County is the fifth special area of the administrative office.

On March 30, 1945, the Japanese army was driven out of Lingqiu City, and Lingqiu County was liberated. In June, wangchengzhuang, Zhaobei and Shizhuang were re assigned to Lingqiu, and the county was divided into 10 districts.

In May 1946, Yanbei, where Lingqiu is located, was changed from the fifth special area to the first special area. Shijiatian and Liuke were re assigned to Lingqiu. The county is divided from 10 districts to 8 districts. In October of the same year, Yan Xishan sent Ren Yuji to organize the KMT Lingqiu County Government in exile in Datong. Ren was listed as the office of Lingqiu County Government in Shanxi Province.

In March 1947, the Kuomintang government of Lingqiu County in exile moved to Beiguan, Guangling county. In November, Jijin district and Chahar province merged into Beiyue District, and Lingqiu and other Yanbei counties. Eight districts in the county were converted into 36 districts.

On March 21, 1948, Ren Yuji, the head of the KMT's Lingqiu County Government in exile, was captured by the people's Liberation Army in Guangling county. The "government" dissolved itself.

In January 1949, Beiyue district and jireliao district were merged to rebuild Chahar province. The former Beiyue No.1 special district where Lingqiu is located was changed into Yanbei special district of Chahar province. On October 1, the people's Republic of China was founded, and Lingqiu still belongs to Yanbei special zone of Chahar province. At the end of the year, Lingqiu County was newly divided into seven districts, with 224 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.

On December 13, 1952, Chahar province was abolished, and Yanbei District, where Lingqiu County is located, returned to Shanxi Province.

In September 1958, wangzhuangbao, zhongzhuangpu and wenzhuangbao in Hunyuan county were under the jurisdiction of Lingqiu County.

On January 29, 1959, Yanbei district and Xinzhou District were merged into Jinbei District, which belongs to Lingqiu.

In 1960, wangzhuangpu, zhongzhuangpu and wenzhuangpu returned to Hunyuan.

In May 1961, northern Shanxi was divided into Yanbei and Xin counties, and Lingqiu was still Yanbei.

In 1978, Yanbei district was renamed Yanbei administrative office, and Lingqiu still belongs to it.

In July 1993, the city merged into Datong City.

It borders Laiyuan and Yuxian in Hebei Province in the East, Fanshi and Hunyuan in the west, Fuping in Hebei Province in the South and Guangling in the north. Lingqiu County is located at the junction of the remaining veins of Wutai Mountain, Taihang Mountain and Hengshan Mountain. Due to the different orogenic stages of each mountain, the geology of Lingqiu County is very complex. From the oldest stratum of Archean to the latest stratum of Cenozoic Holocene, it is exposed in the territory. The main exposed strata are: Archean, Upper Proterozoic Sinian; Paleozoic Ordovician, Cambrian; Mesozoic Jurassic, Cretaceous; Cenozoic. The strata in the county are old in the South and new in the north.
