Jiancaoping District Jiancaoping District, formerly known as the former northern suburb, belongs to Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It is located in the north of the main urban area of Taiyuan City, surrounded by three mountains and divided by one water. It has jurisdiction over 9 streets, 2 towns, 3 townships, 71 communities and 77 administrative villages. It has a total population of 430500, including 103100 agricultural population. It has a total area of 285.6 square kilometers, including 41.6 square kilometers of built-up area.

Jiancaoping district has a profound cultural heritage. In the spring and Autumn period, Dou Jue, a senior official of the state of Jin, for whom Confucius returned, and Fu Shan, a famous thinker, calligrapher and painter, and medical scientist in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, is the hometown of "yuwenwu Shehuo", which has been successfully declared as the fifth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage projects. There are three national cultural relics protection units, such as Jingyin temple, Duofu temple, and Dou Dafu temple. There are also many scenic spots, such as juiwei mountain, and "Guwei Temple" Six of the eight scenic spots outside Bingzhou are distributed in Taiyuan, which is now an important tourism area in Taiyuan and has broad development prospects.

The origin of the name

Jiancaoping district used to be called the northern suburb. The northern suburb is mostly wasteland with weeds, and Kan Cao is the most. However, because "kan" is a rare word, people are used to writing Jiancao, so this area is called "Jiancaoping".

Historical evolution

Before the establishment of Taiyuan City in 1927, most of them belonged to Yangqu County, only Xiayuan, Yicun and the south of Ximing belonged to Taiyuan county.

After Taiyuan was set up in 1927, it belonged to Taiyuan City, Yangqu county and Taiyuan county.

After the surrender of Japan in 1945, Taiyuan was divided into eight inner districts and eight outer districts.

On May 27, 1949, Taiyuan was divided into the seventh and eighth districts and Yangqu County after it was divided into eight districts, namely, the inner eight districts and the outer eight districts.

From February to August in 1950, Taiyuan city was divided into five districts, which were the Fifth District and Yangqu county.

In August 1951, Taiyuan city was divided into seven districts, and the northern suburbs were divided into the third and the fifth districts.

In April 1954, the third district was renamed new urban area, and the Fifth District was renamed Wanbailin District.

In March 1957, Xincheng, Wanbailin, Xiaodian and Jinyuan were divided into four districts, which were suburbs.

In July 1958, the Hexi District was established in the four streets of Nanyan, Heping Road, Wanbailin and Baijiazhuang, which are divided into Hexi District and suburbs.

In March 1970, the establishment of Taiyuan suburb was abolished and divided into the southern suburb and the northern suburb.

In 1996, the northern suburb governs chaicun, Shanglan, Xiangyang and Yangqu, Dongshe, xiaojingyu, Ximing, huaketou, Wangfeng, matoushui, Baiban, Xiliang, Xiaohui, Xincheng and zhongjianhe, 11 townships, 190 administrative villages, 245 natural villages and 12 communities. The CPC northern suburb Committee and the people's Government of the northern suburb are stationed in chaicun town.

On May 8, 1997, the State Council approved the abolition of Nancheng District, Beicheng District, Hexi District, Nanjiao district and Beijiao District of Taiyuan city and the establishment of Xiaodian District, Yingze District, Xinghualing District, Jiancaoping District, Wanbailin District and Jinyuan District of Taiyuan city. Jiancaoping district has jurisdiction over 6 streets of Jiancaoping, Guangshe, Shanglan, Nanzhai, Yingxin street and Gucheng in the former Beicheng District, 8 townships of Xincheng, Xiangyang, Shanglan, Baiban, Xilong, chaicun, matoushui and Yangqu in the former Beijiao District, and 3 villages of xiaodongliu, Dadongliu and Xiliu in Dongshe Township in the former Beijiao district. Jiancaoping district is located in the north end of Taiyuan Basin, north of Taiyuan City, capital of Shanxi Province, with east longitude of 112 ° 15 ′ ~ 112 ° 46 ′, and north latitude of 37 ° 48 ′ ~ 38 ° 06 ′. It is connected with yaozishang village in Yangqu County in the East, houbeitun village in Wanbailin District in the south, xiahuaishu village in the West and yangjiajing village in Yangqu County in the north, with a maximum width of 26 km from east to west and a maximum distance of 22 km from north to south, covering a total area of 285 square kilometers.
